rsvp reminders

Karisa, on February 20, 2019 at 11:17 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 16

I know this is probably a discussion that's been had many times over but I'm about a month out from my RSVP deadline and its a destination wedding in Jasper and I know the hotel is already running out of rooms even within our room block so if anyone wanted to show up early they are not going to get a room, my MIL side are hard to get a hold of and it was a struggle getting addresses for initial invitations so I'm a little worried. Should I just hold off and relax and wait until the actual RSVP date or send out reminders early because I know the rooms are filling up?

I like the idea of a RSVP reminder.

I think you should wait until your RSVP date passes, then contact people. They're adults, it's their responsibility to find suitable accommodations for themselves. You were courteous enough to provide information about local lodging, it's really their faults if they don't book it in time.

But I'm all about tough love lol. Go with your gut, if you really want to contact people sooner, go ahead Smiley smile

That is a tough one! Are there alternate hotels near your venue?

Oh no! She could book her room and if she doesn't go, transfer it to someone who is? Although it does take up a room that someone else (who is definitely coming) would otherwise book. I hate when people say they might come, either say you are or you aren't!

That's awesome that vendors were easy to book for you! Hopefully your undecided guests get back to you soon! I don't know why people would take so much time to RVSP!

Thank you! I've reached out to my undecided family and asked my SIL's to reach out to their side just because I have never met my MIL side. Its a pretty hot spot for weddings but I actually think we lucked out because other than hotel space I haven't had any issues booking anything (DJ, hair officiant etc) best of luck with yours

I would reach out! I sent out accommodation info with my Save the Dates so guests could book rooms early, and a good chunk of them have! We'll be sending out that information with the invitations too so guests who are on the fence will have that reminder. My venue just told me that there are 3 weddings that weekend (I think one is on a Friday, mine and another on the Saturday) so that could mean hotel rooms go faster if there are multiple blocks now.

Especially if you are having a hard time reaching guests, I'd let them know ASAP about the hotel situation.

I totally agree you know or you don't if you are coming and in extenuating circumstances you let the couple know that you will get back to them. I also have relatives that said no then said maybe and complained that I had a yes/no deadline. I think I'll start getting in contact with people farther away now and just letting them know about the hotel. Thank you

I'd reach out and let them know about the situation. I am a week out from my deadline and am still waiting on 50 replies. People will wait till the last second.

If I was in your shoes, I would start calling now. Mention to them that you would have waited until the RSVP deadline but with circumstances like this you thought it best to reach out early so that if they did plan on coming and getting a room that they are able to do so.

Honestly, IMO I think people should RSVP within a week of getting an invitation. What do they have to wait for? I know some people have to book time off but majority work Mon.-Fri. and not on Saturday anyway so...?
