Rehearsal dinner

Shannon, on November 2, 2019 at 19:50 Posted in Before the wedding 0 12

Hopefully with all your lovely advise I came figure this out.

Our wedding is located 90 minutes away from home and my side of the family is coming from the US. Our venue does not have a rehearsal dinner,

Should I host a gathering? To welcome guest the night before?

I Have been planning our wedding 6 months and just now thought of this.

Some people have welcome parties if they have out-of-town family coming to the wedding, but it's usually separate from the rehearsal.

The rehearsal is for the wedding party and immediate family to run through the ceremony and the dinner is afterwards with those people and wedding party/parent gifts are given then.

The rehearsal generally isnt for out of town guests. its just for immediate family and the wedding party to do a walk through of everything before the day of. i mean you could have a party at your house for the out of town guests but i wouldnt invite them to the rehearsal

It's all up to you - we had a rehearsal supper but didn't invite out of towners as in our opinion a wedding isn't meant to be a family reunion, it's a celebration of us so it would be weird to invite family we don't see that often to share in something this private.

A Rehearsal dinner can be a Welcome dinner if you wish to let your family and friends enjoy their evening with food and drinks as they mingle. This is done in every Indian wedding as the day all the guests arrive the day of travel checking in the hotel. The evening becomes a time to enjoy with everyone before the wedding itself.

I enjoyed having everyone together t he night before. We did a barbecue and it was really casual. I would recommend it. Even if you make it a potluck so the whole cost isn’t on you. Or, a bring your own meat barbecue and you can provide sides.

I would think a family get together would be a nice gesture. Maybe a BBQ or something more casual so people can relax before the big day.
