Registry suggestions?

Cash, on May 27, 2019 at 03:03 Posted in Before the wedding 0 3
Hi all, looking for some advice from bride to bride. My fiancé and I are trying to start our registry, but are running into some road blocks. The biggest issue being that my fiancé and I have never lived together, and won’t until we’re married.... so oWe’re having a hard time choosing items, especially because we don’t know what our home will look like! We’ve registered for some generic items at bed bath and beyond, and amazon, but our gift count is well beyond our guest list. Any suggestions?
Did anyone regret certain things they registered for? Or wish they’d registered for other things? Things to take into consideration?

Thanks ladies ❤️

My husband and I didn’t live together before marriage so we registered for almost everything! We found that most of our guests gave us cash or gift cards. I wouldn’t register for a bunch of stuff you don’t know if you want. Leave it how it is. A lot more people are giving cash these days (I expected my family to give gifts since they gave gifts to my cousins, but the last wedding was over 5 years ago and they all gave us cash). You can always check your registry (or have someone else check it!) every once in awhile to see how many of your items have been bought and if most have, add more at a later date.

I would say to register for EVERYTHING. I assume the people invited are well aware you guys don't live together and if they have been married or know family that has then they know that the big items that you may put on the registry are basically meant to be left on the registry so that you can use the discount that you get from creating a registry to buy them yourself.

Just make sure that you have enough items on the list that are in the lower $$ range ($50 or less).

You can't really plan for a certain style if you don't know yet but there is definitely no harm in registering for everything else, toasters, microwaves, TVs, etc.. even gift cards for a certain store you know you will do a lot of shopping at. I wouldn't worry about having more gifts than guests, people rarely get everything on their registry - you register for a lot so your guests have options.. no harm in that, and a lot of stores will give you a discount on any items remaining after your wedding that you purchase.
