Reception viewing

We are doing our reception viewing this afternoon!

I've read articles and made lists but I'm wondering if there is anything that you forgot to ask or while planning down the road thought I wish I would have asked that.
It's a community hall in a town 30 mins out.

Thanks Hank, had pretty much all of those covered but very helpful 🙂
He said we can go out again before we make our decision so I will definitely add some to the list!

Late to the game but a few things you could ask via email after your visit:

-Any restrictions on what vendors to use? Some venues have preferred/exclusive vendors for specific categories (catering, DJ, AV etc)

-Is there any additional costs for non-preferred DJs to plug into the system?

-What is the max voltage the venue can supply? Some venues only have standard 120V outlets and require a generator for things like LED screens, certain audio systems, hot plates (if your caterer is doing anything on-site), hairdryers and curlers (if you're doing hair and makeup on-site in the bridal suite), heaters (if you're doing it outdoor) etc.

-Does it cost extra to plug in things that require more power? Some venues charge for anything that requires more than a basic 15amp outlet.

-What are the restrictions, if any, on decor adhering to walls or ceilings.

-Any open flame restrictions if you wanted to use candles for centerpieces or sparklers for entrances/exits.

-Do you get access to the venue for the full day or does it start from a particular time?

In addition to seeing the ballroom, I hope you took a look at the bridal suite and the public washrooms!

Make sure you ask what is included and not included for reception. For example Glasses, silverware, plates, linens. That's another expense that you'll have to incorporate into your budget if they're not included with the hall

Its good to know what is provided and not provided to get and budget into the community hall. Décor wise, simple is the key to just bring the beauty of the room together along with the layout to have space for moving around and food, dessert, alcohol and DJ (if getting one). My in laws did the same for about 50 people and got sturdy plastic serving ware rather than the good china.
