Reception Only Invitations

Becky, on January 22, 2019 at 12:28 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 16

I need to start the design of my reception only invitations! Would love your idea's on wording. Below is something I found and liked. For those who have designed them recently or ever received one what is your input on things you liked or didn't like? If you have suggestions even how I could change what I have, be much appreciated! Should I stat underneath the address there will be a cash bar and it is adults only?

You have a good wording if you don't mind a suggestion.

    Bride & Groom Names

would be honoured to have your presence

    celebrating our Reception on

    Date

    Location

    Address

Time (cocktail hour and dinner starting)

Stating the number of guests reserved seats is a good suggested idea so they can't change that information on you and meal choices if provides.

I won’t word it as wedding crashes going to be more formal, but the venue it doesn’t matter as I pay for the late night meal.

I'd also mention the cash bar in the information section of the wedding website! I think it's polite to prepare guests for what kind of bar the reception will have.

If you invite "Wedding Crashers" does this go well with venues? I mean they would be there for midnight snack right? Would halls be okay with this? Just curious.

This is what we sent - People enjoyed them and we have gotten good feedback.

Included with our invitation (above) we also included our Toonie Bar notice card (below) as well as a sheet that listed our wedding website, which lists our FAQ's (kids, dress code, etc).

I would, doesn't hurt to have the information there too!

We are going to have a FAQ sections so that is where I would put something along the lines of:

Q: Are my kids invited too?
A: This an adults-only affair. We invite couples to leave the kids at home and have a date night!

I have included the adults only part on the wedding invite too! The RSVP cards I was going to put our wedding website on it instead. Should I also mention it on the website somewhere?

Will you be having an RVSP to go with the reception-only invites? That is a way to say adults-only since you could write:

"We have reserved _ seats in your honour"

I would also include the adults only somewhere on the invite card too.

Thanks Tori! haha def helps second set of eyes for spelling *face palm*. That's very true when comes to the bar part. I always bring cash regardless, if open bar I put the money would have spent in donations jar or honeymoon fund box if one.

    Here is what I'm thinking,

First make sure you spell *honour* correctly (as long as you are Canadian and not American), and then I would say it looks fine to me! I would of course include that it is adult only but most invitations don't state what type of bar it is. I'm having an open bar but won't be advertising that until people are physically at the wedding. The way I see it, they bring XXX amount of money either XX for booze and X for you (if it's a cash bar), or XXX for you as they would have put that money towards their drinks anyway and it's their thank-you for the booze!
