Quote increases due to Covid?

Lauren, on May 20, 2020 at 21:35 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4

I've seen a few news articles on how some BC businesses are charging COVID-19 fees as they begin to reopen.

Today I experienced my first vendor quote increase due to COVID to "accommodate for government regulations that now require more time with clients, as well as different necessities that need to be purchased for the safety of both clients and providers."

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Should I expect increases with other vendors going forward because of this?

We had the worst experience with our venue - he wanted to charge us way more to move our wedding. No sympathy at all. I’m sorry you’re experiencing something similar. It’s a pity that these people are willing to risk the reputation of their business over a few measly dollars.

We've been lucky that we didn't have a lot of vendors and none of them raised their quotes.

I won't lie, the blurb you quoted seems like a better way of sneaking the added cost in there compared to others who give no explanation. It doesn't make it any less frustrating, but at least they've acknowledged that covid has added costs for them too.
It's hard to know what the rest of your vendors might do. If the increases are huge are you able to get out of contracts and book someone new? I know someone on here had a vendor add over $5k to their venue so they're going to shop around and likely forfeit their deposit instead of using someone they no longer trust.

Is this increase a result of you switching dates? Or was your date always August 2021 and they suddenly tacked it on you unexpectedly? If it's the latter, I would call horse manure on that, especially if you have a signed contract.

I haven't heard of thisI'm getting married in Kelowna. I've had to postpone my August 8 2020 wedding to August 7 2021. Every single one of vendors and venue have switched at no increase of cost.
