Question about bridesmaids vs the maid of honour dress

Oh okay that sounds great and yes I would really like them to get there own dresses but what I pick out for them. But there are some of them that will probably wont like what I pick out for them. So hard when you have very picky bridesmaids lol. And thank you for your comment Kat

You can do it any way you feel like, there is no way you “have” to do anything.
Usually bridesmaid will buy their own dresses that are picked out by the bride, often the maid of honour is in a different colour or style to discern her from the rest of the attendants.

1. They only have to match if you want them to. Generally they should look uniform in one way or another but I have seen weddings wear all the BM's wear a different colour of the rainbow for an LGBTQ+ wedding and thought it worked well. For my girls I have them wearing all different dresses but they are all ordered in Plum, are floor length, and only my MOH has sequins on the top part to set her apart from the others. Other ways to set the MOH a part from the BM's would be to add a belt, different colour (accent colour perhaps), or different hair do.

2. As for the paying of dresses - I have seen some Brides pay for the girls dresses as their gift for being in the wedding party. But for myself I am having them pay for it as they will be able to wear it for other things and can even get them hemmed shorter to use more often. If I was getting them to all wear the same dress and not one they pick out to best fit their body type then I would pay. (Keep in mind that since dresses cost roughly $200+ I did offer to pay upfront for those who couldn't afford it at the moment.)
