Hello! We are interested in having a destination wedding. Has anyone here got married in Punta Cana? What resort would you recommend? Any do’s or don’t’s?

Not sure about Punta Cana, but my cousin got married in Riviera Maya (Mexico) about 5 years ago. We stayed in one of the Now Resorts. It was really nice to have a whole week to hang out, enjoy, celebrate, etc...

2 major notes I can think of: Weather. Look up the best season to go (it's not always summer, you want to avoid hurricane/monsoon season). Legality. I know for Mexico, you need to go to the country a minimum of 5 business days before the wedding to get blood work done to legally get married. You can do what many people do, which is have a symbolic ceremony (sign a faux-marriage license), and then legally get married at home... Or look up the legal steps for where you're going.

Something else would be, when you look at resorts, definitely pick an all inclusive (your guests are already travelling, it's easier to have it be all-inclusive), and also see if you can find a place that doesn't charge for double occupancy. I went alone for my cousin's wedding, and I paid the same price as someone who had 2 people in their room, meaning they were more charging for the price of food/drinks, versus charging for taking up your own room. This was a HUGE help for many of the guests who went solo.

The first time was end of March/early April, and the second time was end of May. Both times the weather was to die for.

I haven't been to a wedding in Punta Cana, but I think it's a great place for a destination wedding! FH and I have gone there twice and both times the resorts were fantastic (Occidental Grand Punta Cana and Bavaro Princess), and the weather seems to always be nice and hot Smiley smile

Although I'm not having a destination wedding, my FH's dad and Fiancee are getting married at the Paradisus Punta Cana this coming March!
