We got engaged on our anniversary. Because we just bought our house we decided not to buy any gifts for each other. So we decided just to make a nice dinner. I hope ended making him a card and he had not gotten me a card anyways he told me he would go out and get me one. Came back and said he couldn’t find a card but had something better.

View quoted message Oh thanks! Yeah it was a pretty sweet moment looking back on it. Apparently he had spoken to my mum about it and everything. Almost everyone we know, knew it was going to happen at some point and none of them gave anything away for several months which impressed me lol

I got engaged on November 16th. It was a Thursday night, I had just gotten off work. My man picked me up and was driving me home and we were talking normally (I wish I was able to stay as calm as he did in that car) so we get home and he’d cleaned up which was awesome. I started taking my shoes off and he calls me into our bedroom with a worried voice. I didn’t even take my jacket off before going in because I thought something was wrong. The room was dark except from a light glow out the door. So I walk into the bedroom to see him down on one knee and this light up sign on the bed. I don’t think I even said yes straight away between the like happy laughing and going oh my god under my breathe and hugging him. We went out for dinner to celebrate which was cool. I still have the sign and it makes me giddy looking at it.

My FH is an amazing guy in a lot of ways, but he's not SUPER stealthy. First he got mad at me when I kept making plans for June 2017 weekends. Finally he told me I couldn't book anything else because he was planning something. This made me really suspicious. I think he realized this so he told me he was planning to go away with me to a cottage that weekend and it was actually a horse farm, etc etc. It made me SLIGHTLY less suspicious cause he gave me all the details, but normally we plan things together.

About two weeks before we went, he texted me a picture of our cat while I was at work. In the background of the picture, was his computer, with an engagement ring picture on it. I was like OMG WHAT IS THIS but never acknowledged it to him. He apparently realized he screwed up but hoped I didn't notice lol. So then I figured he'd propose that weekend.

Anyway - we go up to this adorable cottage in the woods that's next to this horse farm. We're standing in these GORGEOUS fields surrounded by gorgeous horses and I think he's going to pop the question, but he doesn't! We have this lovely camp fire, but no question! Have a candlelight dinner, no question!

We go to bed that night, and the next day wake up and its pouring out so we're stuck in this cabin. I'm stunned he didn't propose and he obviously could tell I was upset, cause he asked what was wrong with me and I started crying! I went on about how I thought he was going to propose, but I was wrong, and that's okay, I just had gotten myself excited, but again, that's okay. And he just apologizes to me and we move on with the day.

That afternoon, its still raining and we're doing a puzzle. Half way through he starts kissing me, and I can feel his heart pounding and he's like fiddling around with his ankle (apparently he hid the ring in his sock cause he was worried I'd find it!) and then he popped the question! He was tearing up and I started to ugly cry and I don't think I've ever loved someone as much as I did in that moment.

Amazing Story! LOVE IT! I want to read everyone's first but I wanted to comment before I forgot!

You guys have me tearing up lol I'm such a sap! I never get tired of telling my story!

We were on vacation, end of October 2017 with 2 other couples. We were staying in Miami Beach before heading out on a cruise. The two of us just arrived from Toronto that day and everyone was waiting to pick us up. However, before our flight, we volunteered to check our carry-on suitcases and I had to convince my FH, telling him they won't get lost, they'll get there etc. He was worried about the bags since he had the ring in his (I didn't know at the time obviously - just thought we was being weird). We landed and were told it would be 20 minutes until our bags come through. I had to use the washroom and while I did, he called my parents to get their blessing, again did not know this happened.

We get checked into the hotel, grab some appetisers for late lunch, and then head out to the beach! We end up walking for about an hour until we get hungry again so we head back into "town". Before we leave the beach area, there were a bunch of palm trees nearby to which my FH asks our friend to take our picture by them. He knew that I liked trees so I didn't mind waiting a few extra seconds. We pose for a couple photos and I go to leave when he says he wants to do one more. I though this was strange since he's not a big on getting his photo taken but I didn't complain, especially when I turned back around and he was on one knee. He pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him, and I immediately screamed yes and started crying. This went on for 5 minutes and our friends came over to congratulate us. They all knew he was going to propose and were trying to figure out when he would. Then I asked if my parents knew he was going to ask. He told me they did and he offered his phone, asking if I wanted to call them (he had an American plan set up, I did not), so I did and was so excited through that whole conversation.

Our only regret was that all the photos of him on his knee and me reacting were blurry, and our friend wishes he got a video of us, but it was still amazing! I couldn't stop smiling all throughout dinner, where we got champagne!

All of these stories are wonderful!!! Definitely puts a smile on your face.

My husband proposed to me on Christmas morning 2016. Our Christmas is usually split between time at home just the 2 of us and family Christmas. While we were home, we were handing out gifts to each other. I kept noticing that there was a card in the tree for me which was odd since we don't normally give each other cards. It was the last gift he gave me and inside there was a Post-It note with a first clue for a "treasure hunt". He made me go all around our apartment finding clues. The last one was under a statue bust in the corner of our living room. I had my back to the room and the last clue just said "now you've found the final clue, you must be wondering what to do". I was beyond frustrated that I didn't know what was going on and turned around to say something to him and he was in the middle of the living room on one knee with the ring box in his hand. He got teary eyed and couldn't even say anything. I nodded yes because I couldn't speak either and then said "are you serious?!". I spent most of the morning tearing up when looking at my ring. I had no clue it was coming and was especially surprised as when we first started dating my husband told me that he would never buy me jewelry. It was a pretty great day!

We recently went to Hawaii to visit his family (they are all canadian & we are currently living in Australia)

we accidentally booked the wrong day to arrive so had to spend 1 night in a nice hotel on our own. We arrived in the afternoon, had an amazing day by the pool & went to bed fairly early. The next morning we woke up and he said lets go find somewhere for breakfast. So, out we went, walking along the beach, he said lets go walk on the sand? And i said, No thank you, im wearing sandals that will irritate my feet if theres sand rubbing. Off he went to the sand & I continued on the footpath!!

Eventually, after about 5 mins of walking on our own, he randomly stopped, I stormed out there (Being super hangry) and said what are you doing? we are in hawaii for 10 days we can go to the beach every day!! I just want some brekky. he laughed a bit & said lets just enjoy the view (it was very early so the sun had just come up) eventually I heard his velcro from his board shorts pocket, he got down on one knee with tears in his eyes & asked me to marry him!! I honestly thought it was a joke, I kept saying no no what are you doing?? why are you doing that?? so he didn't even get his little speech in that he had planned! We were so extremely lucky with the beach almost to ourselves, minus a photographer taking photos of the sunrise! He came up to us after & asked for our email as he had realized what was happening and snapped some pictures for us!! SO amazing of him!

We enjoyed the rest of the day to ourselves & then his parents arrived that night & we finally shared the good news!! Couldn't be happier!!

We went to a spa getaway for our anniversary . While I was relaxing in the hotel room he said he had to go to the car I thought nothing of it. Little did I know he snuck outside the hotel and wrote “ will you merry me” in the stone path outside. He told himself the whole time he was writing it to make sure he spelt it right.... he didn’t from the stress of trying to rush and me not open the blinds and see him. I think it’s cute lol
He comes back to the room at about the same time that I get up to open the blinds and look at the ocean. I didn’t notice the proposal at first then he peaks over my shoulder and says “ what does that say over there??” I’m like “huh” as he points to the proposal. He says “ wait I think I can read it will you marry .....” I then tell him to shut up as he is on his knee with my ring. I cried then said yes! He put a lot of pressure on himself for it to be perfect and it’s my perfect story !

Last year we went to Banff for my birthday. I had no idea he was going to propose! It was kind of funny because the day we got there we were waking around town looking at the shops and I seen a jewelry store and asked if we could go in and he said no! I was like wow ok... and later that evening we went to dinner at Eden in the Rimrock Hotel where we staying. I told him it was a fancy place and right before our reservation he decides he doesn’t like his shirt so I said I’ll go down and get our table and you change. Apparently he was trying to figure out where to put the ring box because we weren’t leaving the hotel so he couldn’t wear a jacket and the ring box is actually pretty big not one that fits in your pocket lol. He comes down with this puffy vest on and our hostess asks to take his jacket (vest) and he says no! I’m like ok what are you doing babe this is a fancy place let her take it lol anyways we’re sitting there with champagne and have this amazing view of the mountains so I said we should ask our waiter to take a picture. My fiancé asks our waiter to take our picture and then he got down on one knee and proposed! I was so shocked!! I could barely even eat dinner after lol just kept looking at my ring and smiling. The staff there treated us so good it was wonderful!
I guess he even went by my parents place to ask them about his proposal and when he drove by I was there! Lol I happened to stop by quick after work that day and ruined his plans so he had to go another day haha I just thought that was funny. Must have been hard keeping it from me I’m hard to surprise lol.
He picked the ring out all by himself and I love it! So happy can not wait to marry him this summer! ♥️

He insisted on an impromptu trip to Cancun because he was “stressed”. We had been dating nearly 8 years at this point and I was completely oblivious but on our last night he was hugging me on our patio telling me how great this trip was, then I felt him reach into his pocket while getting down on one knee, and he said “I meant to do this a while ago” and he asked me!

I laughed at him for a solid 2 minutes before saying yes because I was excited and surprised!
