Pre wedding day beauty tips

Jennifer, on February 10, 2017 at 00:10 Posted in Beauty 0 26
Hello everyone
I'm curious if anyone has an easy, inexpensive facial cleansing routines they would be willing to share or great products that work well?
For the most part my skin is relatively ok I do break out on my chin area the most
I am kind of worried as anytime I wear makeup I break out way worse.
I just don't want to get stuck with a big zit on the big day
Thanx

    YAY! So glad!

BUT when you run out, give the Origins verson a try! a third of the price, and I am loving it. (not quite the same, but I'm happy with it)

I haven't tried the yogurt mask but am dying to! I only use the moisturizer at night as it's pretty thick. I have been using a Caudalie lighter cream on my face during the day as well as their serum from time to time. I like to mix those two brands together. They tend to give me the best results!

I also use a lot of sheet masks. I purchased two of the Dr Jart holiday packages and I'm a big sucker for the Sephora sheet masks. They are amazing, especially the pearl one!

I wish it were acceptable to register for makeup and skin care lol how amazing would that be! I can't wait for the store to open here so that I can sample different foundations. I've been just using drug store foundations as I'm too afraid to order anything online. I've been getting samples whenever I order from Sephora but haven't found anything I really like. Have you tried the new NYX foundation by any chance? I've been eyeing it up and am thinking of giving it a shot. I tend to be more on the dryer side but am looking for something that's full coverage (I have very red cheeks all the time and they're hard to cover) that I can use the day of the wedding. Any suggestions?

I bought a second one of the little travel set (suchhh good value!) and I am on to a full size of the toner. I'm not crazy about the moisturizer that comes with it, so i might switch when that runs out- but all of the other steps are amazing! Have you tried the raspbery yogurt mask? It is heaven, and you can get it in a little sample set for 8$! Ohhhh lord!

Do you use any other fabulous products? I'm a nut for trying new things skincare and makeup related (I joked to Val that I might register for makeup if I could!)

I tend to online shop- I go to Sephora and test things, and then buy online so I can use ebates (Yay money back!). When yuor sephora opens up, go in and ask to try things before you buy! You can usually get a little sample made up so you can test for a few days before investing Smiley smile It helps if you have sensitive skin, so you don't waste money on something that will ruin your skin!

This really makes me want to try the Lush product again. It is pretty much what you're doing but I used a sea salt scrub after the honey product to get the remainder of the honey off of my face. My face looked and felt so amazing. It was just so expensive and it expired quickly so I stopped buying it.

It did dry my face out if i didn't use it in conjunction with the honey. I tried just sugar before and my face was so red for the whole day lol. With honey and my face is like perfect.

Do you find that using the sugar as an exfoliant daily dries out your skin? I used to use a product from Lush that had honey in it and LOVED how it made my face feel.

Girlllllllll! Laneige is the bomb.com!!! Honestly love this brand so much! I randomly came across the product line while I was cruising sephora's website while working a night shift. I purchased the 30 day little package and have been hooked ever since!

My city is about to open a Sephora here within the next few months... bye bye paychecks!

I've never put baking soda in it I don't know what purpose it would serve but if it works it works!!! I try and do it every day because I like how my skin feels after. I am kind of lazy so I miss days sometimes. It's not a regimen you have to religiously follow but it does make ur skin feel nice and definitely helps with complexion.

I have heard about the sugar and honey thing before. I have also heard that you can put baking soda in it as well. How often do you do this?

I only mix honey and sugar. I mix it in a small bowl first so I can add more honey or sugar depending. Too much sugar feels rough and it's hard to spread and not enough sugar obviously won't exfoliate. Honey is thick so it stays on while massaging it on your face.

I LOVE the honey and sugar idea! Honey is antibacterial too- i can totally see why that would work!
Do you mix an oil in to make it less gooey, or justgo for it? Or use enough sugar to make it paste like?

I don't know if it's helpful to know as well that I was told by my makeup artist that breakouts around the chin are hormonal. And the lotion is from the body shop not bath and body works lol.

I wash my face with pasteurized honey and white sugar. When I tell people this I get mixed reactions because it is not well known. However my face is clear and it is the only combination that doesn't leave my skin feeling tight. The honey is suppose to be oil and dirt absorbing while also being moisturizing, the white sugar exfoliates. I moisturize with almond oil and add drops of tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is pretty well known for treating acne so you won't get funny looks for that one. I find the almond oil can be too greasy for the day time so I sometimes just use at night or skip that step all together. I started using the matifying tea tree oil facial moisturizer from bath and body works and I have no complaints about that. It feels good going on and I think the "matifying" properties make it not so oily and greasy on my face. Try it out tell me what u think Smiley smile.

I try to avoid jar issues but lifting product from the jar with a q-tip and onto my hand to apply. not perfect, but makes me feel better! The water mask is so lovely!

I don't have a good spot treatment- but I'm looking at the Vichy Normaderm one, I've heard great things about it

This is great advice!! Moisturize even if you feel your skin is oily, it really helps in general.
I love the laniege water sleeping mask but I'm told that jar products are a no-no but the smell and texture is just so nice I can't resist! Same with philosophy's hope in a jar eye, which I'm almost finished .
What do you use to spot treat?

I am pretty addicated to beauty products (my Sephora history actually scares me sometimes).

Best advice: Moisturize!! I use a lighter one for the daytime (under my makeup), a heavier nighttime cream, and a totally seperate eye cream.

I also use a cleanser, toner, and serum in the evening BEFORE my eye and face creams. Takes about 15 minutes, but it has been worth it. The line I use is called Laneige- it isn't exactly budget friendly, but if you have normal- combination skin like me, I can't recommend it enough! I use a philosophy day cream, and my eye cream is also by them.

If you are new to a consistent skincare routine start small. Pick up a gentle cleanser/exfoliater (I like origins Gin-zing) and a good moisturizer. You can add in more steps if you feel like you need them, or become a crazy person like me.

A nice mask is good to do once a week. Glamglow super mud is expensive, but good. I found the Origins Charcoal mask to be a good dupe for it Smiley winking

You are far enough away from your wedding that I think you would be safe to try a few new products- but as the date gets closer, be careful! If you have a reaction to anything you want to have time for side effects to clear up!

I hope this is helpful - let me know what you try, and don't hesitate to message me for other ideas. It is one of the three things I am pretty good at!
