Postposing (but not Covid)

Stacey Tc, on May 20, 2021 at 13:59 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

Been a roller-coaster the past few weeks.

SO and I grappled with the decision to move our wedding from May 2022 to August 2022. My mother has been a full-time mobility scooter user for 10 years and with having an outdoor wedding their were some environmental barriers we thought we had accounted for.

Apparently when my mother broken her femur May 2020 there were some other challenges and changes she didn't tell me about (because she didn't want me to worry). Her and I have had some emotional discussions but now I'm just trying to come to terms with the fact that the spring wedding we had been planning and booking is now a summer wedding, and trying not to worry about my mother who has had major medical changes every few years since I was 8.

My mother is fine, just some daily things that means she medically has to be close to home... which means we have to cancel the provincial park and the park hall we had booked (30 mins outside the city).

Next up, see if the photographer we booked and have paid partially is available for a new date and then telling our wedding party.

I know it's a minor hurdle compared to other things but I'm mentally trying to get around this.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you, and I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with family health as well.

They are lucky to have all of you, I'm an only child and I wish I could do more for my mom.

I do know what your going through with your moms concerns health wise and date change which your photographer will work with you on the understanding your going through. I have my parents going to through some of their issues too especially my mom being alone at times at home with my dad in the hospital when being administered. My brothers and I do make sure they are ok and call up or check on them daily basis.

Just to give you some silver lining in the clouds, at least an August wedding closer to home will mean it's much less likely to rain or be cold.

I hope after this experience, your mom knows not to withhold medical information from her family. I know she meant well but even without a wedding, that kind of thing can lead to some major challenges in the future. Sending you possible vibes.

It'll all come together. I love planning! I have planned theatre events and shows in my city for years (and considered starting an event business years ago).

I don't do well with changeSmiley ups Smiley xd it's been 6 months since my job moved halfway across the city and I'm just getting over it, Covid and lockdown almost broke me... more than most people I know.

    Thanks.

When we first started talking wedding planning Feb 2020 we were planning a short engagement and were thinking Aug 2020, Covid hit before we had actually booked anything. Feb/Mar this year we decided on May because it's when my grandmother was married (she was like a second parent to me). I'm sure that things will still be wonderful.

Still 'mourning' the May wedding a little and stressing about cancelling the other 2 venues and being able to keep our photographer. The important thing is having my mother involved.

SO just keeps saying the as long as it's the two of us everything else is minor. I'm sure once I get past these bumps things will be fine. I just have to find another way to incorporate my grandma.

Sorry to hear about the situation about your mother and the pushing back of your wedding. 💕

But how are you feeling? You liking the date a bit more? Do you have almost everything set for the special day when it comes or do you think that you will? In this case, you’ll have a little bit more time to finalize all things if you haven’t as yet. Remember, you’ll have an amazing time with you SO on that special day the two of you chooses.
