Postponing May 29th 2021

Chelsey, on April 19, 2021 at 21:16 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Hello ladies!

I'm looking for advice, my Date is May 29th I'm getting nervous with the stay at home order extending longer, I'm in eastern ontario.
I am thinking about postponing and this would be my first time. I'm okay with having 25 guests and I just want to to be able to use my vendors ie. photography, decorator, catering
How should I best approach this? I really don't want postpone too long, and I can't wait last minute to postpone as my sister would be flying in from another province! I was thinking to the end or June or beginning of July it's hard to say whats going to happen!
My heart goes out to everyone trying to plan!!

Your day being special and not taking place as wanted does seem disappointing. To make the fullest use of your vendors, it can happen for the day though its not the full time you will get of their services. The chances of the photographer is willing to cover the celebration later on for next year and cover the wedding at home. The decorator can do what you want on a smaller scale and caterer plating up for serving to your guests. This would avoid all issues of non contact and your joy being there with everyone present. An alternative to the times being held back with everything taking place, have your wedding and postpone for a Reception/Anniversary celebration with all your family and friends present.

My wedding was suppose to be May 22 and we canceled it because we don't see things lifting by then. In alberta and we have looser restrictions then you guys. I hate to say the bad news but I would postpone for you. I had postponed last year and the second I postponed I felt the stress dissappear. Only to fast forward a year and me cancel this year. But you'll feel better for a couple months. I would maybe even do it till after summer. August or September if it's possible for you

If you’re willing to postpone to the fall I think that would be your safest option. Maybe late September/early October. I’m sure things will get better before then but by the fall everyone will have their first shot and a lot of people will have their second. I would just hate to postpone a few months and then realize you have to do it again down the line.

I know how you feel. We live in Toronto and are suppose to get married in BC in august but that seems almost impossible at this point. If I were in your shoes I would postpone to the end of June. It’s hard to say for sure but they very well could extend the stay at home order. I’m sure a lot of brides will be doing the same but maybe if you’re flexible with having your wedding on a less common day such as a Friday or Sunday your vendors could be flexible. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Since you don't want to postpone too far away, you're likely able to find a date since a lot of people are likely trying to get out of their 2021 date. Are you okay with a daytime or Sunday wedding? If so, that opens up even more possibilities.

If your venue has outdoor capabilities, then I would try to keep it in the warmer months, no later than mid-September. If the venue has July and August availability, that's what I would go with.
