Postponed Wedding - Moving Forward

Cassie, on April 30, 2020 at 18:35 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8

Hello,

We were supposed to get married in September 2020 and have postponed to August 2021. For those brides who have decided to postpone their wedding into 2021, how have you notified your guests? I'm wondering if I should send a new invite with the 2021 date so guests are notified or if we just send postponement announcements for now.

Also any notes on how you're celebrating your original date would be great!

Thanks,
Cassie

We actually sent out a letter using Weddingwire's feature to email all our guests. It worked really well!

    Hi!

The girl who did my stationary created 2 postponement notices you can download and edit for yourself.

She also is creating us a postcard to match our invites for postponement notification (if you wanted to spend some money).

I think the free option is awesome. You can delete the website part and just say formal invite to follow or something!

Wedding invitations sent out during this time can be notified by email or social media saving the cost of new invites since its the same venue location and timing.

Invitations to be sent out can be remade if the company is willing to cancel the last batch and update the new set date. I deal with Vistaprint from the beginning and still do provided they credit me for unsatisfactory result.

I would do some kind of postponement announcement or save the new date (paper or digital) but I would wait to send invites until you would if this were normal. My biggest worry is that I would send invites to 100 people, get RSVPs, and then need to un-invite some because of gathering restrictions which could be in place until we have a vaccine.

We sent save the dates so when we officially postpone (it's just a technicality at this point) we will call and email our guests to let them know our plans have changed.

When we postponed we just notified everyone either by phone call or text (like my close friends/family). Otherwise a phone call to make it more formal. We personally didn’t want to pay for more save the date cards. We treated the phone call/text as our “save the date” and then we will send everyone new invites next year! We didn’t want to send invites now cause we thought people will lose them as the date is still far away!

We used vista print so they were great! They gave us credit and we will use it to print new invites Smiley smile
