Polite way to tell people that kids are not invited

Sar, on January 27, 2019 at 20:44 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9
Hi everyone! Quick question. How would you phrase your invites, essentially saying that kids are not invited to the reception. I love kids but we are on a very tight budget... plus most of our friends have 2-3 kids... thanks!

We only have 3 Couples with Young Children. Our Invitation Lady said to write guests names on envelope and on the RSVP response, it says how many attending. If we invited 2 Adults and they write 3 attending there will be an awkward phone call. Guests should know that if your name is not on the Invitation, you aren't invited.

I literally put “adults only” on the invitation in the bottom right hand corner.

We just wrote "Adult reception," our invitation people said that was pretty universal.

We went super basic with ours and just put "adults only ceremony and reception" on the RSVP.

Most people know this is happening, so it is just a reminder to the rest of the family. Immediate family will also know to ignore that as our nieces and nephews will be invited

We just said something like "although we love your children, there will be no children allowed after 8:30pm." Something along those lines is so easy and should not offend anyone.

I like this, especially since it has verses for when children are in the party (which they are).

We are using the "We have reserved _ seats in the honour of ______" as well so people know how many seats there are (helpful for managing + ones) We might include a short verse of having a date night/taking the night off.

I will most likely go with:

"Although we love to watch your children run and play, this is going to be an adults only kind of day"

That or the ones where we it mentions having a night off and leaving the kids at home to enjoy yourselves!

Congrats on the engagement by the way!!
