Planning Milestone- Taste testing

Becky, on July 8, 2019 at 15:04 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12

My favorite planning milestone would have to be the taste testing Smiley smile For anyone that knows me knows I am a huge food person! We talked to few different catering companies, picked a few in our price range and only one really offered a taste testing but we went and loved it!

They had a buffet style dinner planned at their restaurant and did our menu plus few different options that we could try in case didn't like it.

We picked ; roast beef banquet style, gravy, roasted potatoes, there was mixed veggies (we changed it to beans/carrots though), chicken breast with seasoning, mixed salad, ceasar salad, buns.

They also had chicken with garlic butter inside, chicken with cheese and ham- wasn't fan of it lol and few other things.

We went with what we had picked and soo good.

They also had deserts but all apple theme and wasn't fan. We decided just to do cake/cupcakes only.

What was your favorite part about your taste testing or did you have one? Did you have issues finding your catering company? How did you decide?

My favourite part was actually tasting the food! We got to customize several dishes that are being served (we're having a plated meal), so it was exciting narrowing down what we wanted, then finally getting to try it Smiley smile

No taste testings for us so far :/

We went with Danny's Whole Hog for our food caterer as we have both had them at work functions before and it's delicious Smiley tongue (Pulled Pork, BBQ Chicken, Baked Potato, Mac & Cheese, Caesar Salad, Mixed Vegetables, and dinner rolls.)

As for our cake - we haven't looked around yet but even then I don't really see the point in having a tasting

Oh I love food so much. Our taste testing was the best day ever!

Our venue is all inclusive, so they have a showcase for couples twice a year, and they do a whole spread. So we literally had 4 hours of eating, and walking around to taste everything. They had a full antipasto bar out, which marrying into an Italian family is a huge thing, we had to try everything there lol.

They had all their entrees, 5 different types of pasta to choose from, a whole dessert table, open bar, fondue and nachos. It was amazing!

So long story short we are doing penne a la vodka with sausage and meatballs, roasted chicken and potatoes (Keeping it simple after a huge antipasto bar), a caramel cookie dessert, and then fondue for our late night, with the possibility of McDonald's Cheeseburgers!

I am going to have to starve myself before showing up to my wedding lol

We did and all the guests really enjoyed their meals except for some of the veg that didn't like risotto. That's ok because we wouldn't have any other way around it.

Our venue catered to our guests based on what we chose to serve our veg and Non-Veg guests along with cake/pastry served with dessert. The thing that spoiled our tasting was my brother getting upset over some small matter and husband (FH to be) was just turned off by the whole thing while our dad was trying to make him calm down.
