Planning during a pandemic

Amanda, on April 19, 2020 at 16:34 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
Hey everyone,

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are for planning a wedding during the crisis? My partner and I are not getting married until February so I'm hoping it's safe by then. I'm just not sure if we should even be planning anything at all? What does everyone think?

You can still plan just make sure you give vendors extra time to respond incase theyre caring for a sick loved one or have kids to care for etc.

You are definitely right, that is a realistic observation but it can give you a good
idea of what to look for in other vendors that are similar if one you have your eye on closes!

That's a good point! I'm looking at caterers right now but the problem I have is that its hard to know if some of these companies will still be in business next year... I know that's kind of harsh but the economy isnt great right now

I would still go ahead with planning things are beginning to look up. Even if you can’t book anything yet it’s the best time to do your research and look at your preferred vendors and things like decor.

Next year is looking hopeful and better so far. Start planning when all this crisis is cleared and booking your venue along with your vendor team. It seems with the postponed weddings and cancellations occurring, some couples are eloping as the alternative choice. You don't want to lose out for next year.

The idea of saving up now is great knowing you have enough to pay when the time comes and ready for vendors on contract dates. Read over the contracts too very carefully about refunds/cancellation policy as it will have a major impact on postponing if needed.

We've been on pause since early March. I don't want to spend any money on anything that we can't use if we postpone, so we haven't ordered invites yet (waiting to see what the situation is like in July for our October wedding).

I have enjoyed doing research for hair and makeup and shopping online for accessories. Plus planning backup plans has been surprisingly fun. We have a few alternative ideas for eloping or pushing our reception.
You are probably safe for February but if you're worried I would avoid buying anything with specific dates, or that would only be needed for a winter wedding. You can get those things closer to your big day!
