Place cards and menu choices

Terri, on June 14, 2019 at 20:47 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5
Hey. How are people marking place cards with menu choices? My fiancé has two kids and we were going to have the kids possibly make the place cards (ie write the names on them) but I don’t know how to mark them for the meal choices. Would love something simple. Also not sure if I should just use folded cards or other idea options? I don’t want these to be a bank breaker since I don’t think anyone really notices?

    Hi Terri!

If you're looking for the simplest way of adding meal choice to the place cards, I would suggest using stickers. You can get little stickers of animals (cow, fish, chicken, etc.) on Amazon or Etsy! They're usually quite inexpensive and would be straightforward to add!

Folded over place cards also sound perfect Smiley smile

How many do you have to make? How many guests have you invited?

I know a friend who's daughter got married and chose to use coloured stones (scrapbooking wise) with sticky back to indicate the choice on the name cards at the tables. The servers would know what meals are to be plated for each guest.

Another way to look at this situation is the way I created a table seating plan on paper and which guest was seated exactly and what meals to be served. The coordinator had a copy for the chef to make sure that each table was provided with the proper meals and by names at the tables. Be honest, I found this to be easier for myself and the kitchen staff to know what was happening rather than asking and taking more time out of their confusion. The indication of meals were as indicated:

    NV Non-Vegetarian/V Vegetarian/K Kids Meal

Find the way you feel with be best to work for you and the kitchen to make it efficient of a service.

My friend had a picture of the animal for the meal choice. For food allergies, there was a coloured dot. I am gluten free, so I had a red dot. The person beside me was diabetic, so she had a blue dot.
If you’re having a theme, you could incorporate that. For example, if it’s travel theme, the suitcase indicates chicken, the globe indicates beef and the plane indicates vegetarian. Give the guide to the venue so they know.
I have also seen different coloured flowers used, and the flowers matched the brides bouquet. So, for example, your bouquet is tulips, the white tulip on the placecard indicates chicken, the red one indicates beef, the green one indicates vegetarian.

What about using different coloured paper for different meal choices, ie green is vegetarian, yellow is chicken. The wait staff would be given your colour chart so they know which meal to put where.

I’m getting my cards done by my invitation lady. For menu choices I’ll do a photo of a chicken, cow or vegetable to identify whose having chicken, beef or veggie.

Maybe you can find similar stickers to just pop on the cards?
