Picking Your Wedding Colours

Liberty, on March 24, 2021 at 12:26 Posted in Plan a wedding 1 30
How did you pick your wedding colours?

Is it something you've always known or did you find inspiration from Pintrest or somewhere else?
Are you using one shade or multiple shades of the same colour?
I have always known I wanted a pink and silver wedding. Mostly going with blush pink with some pops of brighter pink. But my Fiancé doesn't want our wedding to be "too pink" so we are also going to incorporate some white and grey tones! Picking Your Wedding Colours 1

I asked my now husband to select a color. He decided on plum, so I decided that dark teal complimented plum and silver was our accent.

I knew that I wanted colour, and not just white and green. I also wanted a brighter/more vivid palette so lighter things like blush, neutrals, etc. were out of the question for me. One day I came across a bridal photoshoot with this bouquet and I was floored - it became the inspiration for my colours! Basically going to have a mix of these minus the red. My bridesmaid dresses are a "Mulberry" and are somewhere in between burgundy and fuchsia/pink.

My FH said he always wanted a navy suit so I incorporated colours that work well with navy. We decided on Navy, Blush Pink, and Sage Green. Pinterest was some good inspiration for colour palettes as well based on the season.

That will look very classy!! My Fiancé also doesn't want too much pink! My bridesmaids will be wearing blush dresses and our flowers for our centerpieces will be pink and that's about all the pink there will be

Our colours are black, gold and ivory- with a touch of hot pink. I always wanted my girls to wear gold dresses...and I had been eyeing the black and ivory stripe table runners... so I just went from there. I felt the 3 colours were very elegant and classy- and the decor at the venue is very neutral (albeit a bit boring) so I thought the centrepieces needed a little pop.... Pinterest helped with the hot pink choice. It sorta ended up having a Kate Spade vibe, which I love and I thought was perfect for an end of June wedding.
My fiancé didn’t want too much pink, so just the centrepieces- and my hot pink Manolo Blahniks!

My fiance is dead set on having a burgendy suit, so I looked up which colors complement and we went from there. I ended up falling in love with dusty blue so that's what we are going with!

Our colour palette was chosen by the style of modern elegance invitation. The colour was dark gray and black on the actual invitation. The chosen palette was white, black and red touch for our day. The idea of the pride flag came to mind as each table had one colour per to follow the pattern of the colour order. The colourful concept brought it together than just red itself apart from the menu/escort cards. It was nice and simple with the light from the windows shining through for the evening time. I do like your palette choices if given the idea of champagne to go with the pink as a complimentary colour and neutral to silver.

This is our venue in its neutral state (they have white table cloths as well). No outside decor and lighting setup needed to get this look so it's nice that we don't need to do much to add to the space.

We're opting with gold and silver. Neutral but at the same time timeless. The venue comes with a gold aesthetic (gold curtains, amber lighting, gold chiavari chairs). It also matches our metals. And most importantly, because gold and silver in excess is tacky, we can avoiding renting random stuff in a specific colour and use all the basic linens and cutlery that come with the venue.

Thank you! I thought so too!

I work for Laura Canada as a Visual Merchandiser so I'm able to see what styles of dresses we're getting in for the season and when I first saw this dress, I just knew those were the colors of our wedding! This picture doesn't do the dress justice!

    That sounds beautiful!
We chose our colours based on our favourite colours. My favourite colour is light lavender and my fiancé’s is all shades of orange. That ended up being the whole basis lolPicking Your Wedding Colours 11

I wanted things simple and not too wedding-y so I intentionally didn't choose any colours to keep things neutral. Things may change depending on the venue we choose (we postponed our reception indefinitely and our original venue is being demolished) but I want white linens, wood accents, greenery, and just hints of gold to break things up.

I was shocked by the colours we ended up choosing to be honest haha. I had always envisioned a fall wedding so had always thought jewel tones or burnt orange and grey would be my colours. But we couldn't agree on a fall date, and we ended up with a late spring/early summer date, and FH suggested pale yellow first then I immediately thought of lavender. So yeah, never would've thought those would be my colours but I'm loving how our a aesthetic is turning out.

We had discussed our colours prior to getting engaged, and agreed on bright yellow and royal blue - both of our favourite colours. Our home has the same colour scheme as well, so we already knew that we liked them together.

I've always known I wanted dark green as my main colour and luckily my fiance was totally on board with it. I found inspiration on Pinterest and went with a champagne accent colour.
