I would like to book a photographer right away, but I have no idea the best way to go about it! How did you pick yours? Any advice? Did the majority of people find a photographer by looking at their online gallery? Did you meet with the photographer before committing to them? Word of mouth isn’t the best for us because we are on our second marriage, so most our friends have been married a long time lol. Thank you everyone for your advice and input!

Yeah! Maybe you could use a friends Facebook? Haha it really does have so many options that’s how I found my videographer!

That’s amazing! Your photographer is your old teacher! I love that. We got rid of our Facebook years ago, so it’s definitely a downfall not being on social media. There is so much more on there then on google, plus usually way more photos and reviews. I think that’s why I’m having a little bit more of a hard time, my options feel limited. There is probably a ton of photographer that use Facebook and no website!

It’s very true. Have you met any in person? I couldn’t just base my decision on the online gallery my fiancé hates photos so it was important to met in person. When we met the photographer he brought lots of photos that he has done some where in the mountains and some were in Calgary. I am only getting my photographer for 4 hours but I know that within those 4 hours I’m going to get amazing photos. My advice go with your gut you will know when you sit down with them who is the perfect fit for your wedding

I think I already had my photographer picked before our engagement lol one of my high school teachers also does photography and I’ve been a fan of her for awhile. I did compare her to a few others just to see what other packages, prices and talent was out there. I did end up liking another photographer as well but when going over them with my fiancé he picked my teacher too. He can be so helpful when I can’t decide! The other photographer I like is going to do my boudoir so I’m happy. Definitely look at their gallery and reviews! Go with your gut, just from talking to vendors over Facebook or email I get vibes from them that help me decide if I want to work with them or not.

With the online galleries I seem to get sucked into the mountain wedding pictures, I have to snap out of it and remember I’m getting married in Edmonton lol.

I can’t believe only one got back to you! I found a bunch with no reviews, so that definitely makes me a little nervous. There are so many scams out there, I definitely want to find a reliable photographer who will show up haha

I had my bridal party give me their opinion. Honestly their was no pressure from them to book right away I took a couple of weeks. And at the end of the day even though I loved both of them. Their was a specific look I wanted and when I look at his photos that he is postin now. I know I made the right decision. You just have to go with your gut

I looked at online galleries and reasearched reviews. I narrowed it down by price and what you get. I wanted to meet with 3 and only ine got back to me. We met and we clicked so i booked her since she was the only reliable one and she was super nice

I agree, definitely is second to the venue! I didn’t think it would be such a big decision until now that I’m looking for one. I feel totally lost and don’t want to make the wrong choice!

Great point about clicking with the photographer! So I’ll definitely make sure I meet with a couple of them. I hate getting my picture taken, so having someone I like might help a bit. Lol

I new photographer was the next important one to book aside from the venue. I looked at their online gallery and their prices. Just because we have a very tight budget. I narrowed it down to two. Their styles were completely different. So I met both of them and then from their it was who would fit with our personalities and who we got a good vibe with. I am so excited and cannot wait. I love my photographer

We are looking for a photographer and have narrowed it down to 4. We picked those 4 by looking at their online gallery (they have the style we are looking for) and their prices. We have an appointment to meet all 4 and from there we will pick one. I think it's important to meet face to face. You can see more pictures they took and get a vibe from them. Us clicking with the photographer is very important. I think the 3 important things are the prices, that the style of his/her photos are what you are looking for and that your personality doesn't clash with the photographer's personality.
