Photographer M.i.a

Hey all! So I’m pretty sure my photographer has ghosted me because I emailed her last Thursday to try and discuss the changes for my May wedding but got no response. I’ve emailed her twice since, sent a DM and called her. Getting worried because I’ve already paid her $500, I’ve asked around for what to do next and people are saying to spam her but I’m honestly not sure if that’s going to work because she just doesn’t seem to want to get in contact with me.

I’m so sorry this happened to you! A lot of people I asked said I should give her more time in case she is on vacation or something but she’s been actively posting on social media so I’m unsure what to do. I’ll probably wait a couple more days but I just want to have everything in order.

    Hi Aoife,

I am on the same boat. Our photographer is MIA. Our wedding was on September 19th 2020, and he gave us our sneak peaks within a week. Our contracted stated that we should be receiving it within 2 months (End of Nov 2020 or First week of Dec 2020). We didn't hear from him. We followed up and he responded saying he will bring it to us (This was second week of December). We didn't hear from him. We followed up again and nothing. Finally, Jan 11th, he sends an email out saying that he is going through something with family and said he would touch base with us that same week. Again.. NOTHING. Finally I emailed him today (Feb 1s) to follow up, so far nothing again..

I just find it so unprofessional. Communication is Key. So I get you.

I haven’t heard from her as of yet, but I decided I was going to wait roughly a week and since it’s the weekend. It’s concerning though that’s for sure.

The photographer responded yet back to you as for now? It would be concerning if there was no answer however you did try to message her to make changes for the date. I would give it time and then take action if needed for a full refund. Another photographer that is reliable and to have communications to assist you better.

I had something similar happen and it turned out my photographer was on vacation and forgot to set her away message.

I would give them a little time. Maybe email again every week or so, just in case they are taking a break after a busy Christmas season.

That's unfortunate but I'd give it a bit more time. It's possible she's taking a week off work or is having personal issues and isn't checking her email or work phone.

If you don't hear back within the next week I'd send her follow up messages via email, voicemail, and all social media. If you still don't hear back after that then I'd do what Hank suggested and post publicly on her social media to get her attention.

Oiy, that sucks. Keep trying but at some point, you might have to sidestep the DMs and leave very public comments on Facebook and Instagram.

The first time I called I called it went to voicemail but the second time we got a message saying ‘this caller is not taking calls at this time.’ She is very active on Instagram and Facebook and I’ve messaged her on Instagram. I paid the deposit via e transfer more than four months ago. I looked for a valid mailing address and there’s nothing.

Is her phone at least hitting voicemail? I would keep trying to call,

Is she active on social media? Message those accounts/leave comments on their posts.

Did you pay the deposit via credit card? How long ago was this? If it's within four months, you can do a chargeback.

Try to get a legitimate mailing address in case you need to pursue legal action.
