Hi Rory, welcome to the community!! I'm glad you got so many answers! As you noticed, prices can vary from province to province but also from one vendor to another.

Will you also get engagement pictures? Or a videographer?

Hi Rory, I would say that price depends on what the package includes with the company. Also it depend on what you would like to capture on your wedding day. We are having two photographers as each photographer will be at separate locations to capture shots and give us variety on our photos. Average could be anywhere from $1500-$3000. Also some photographers might charge for mileage as they go to different locations.

We just booked ours and most of what we were looking at was 3,000-4,000 range, we could have done it for less but I knew that photography was going to be a splurge area. We went with 2 photogs because it gives us more options and coverage. We could have gotten a photographer for under 3,000 but with the majority of those we found that they just give you the photos and you are on your own with what you do with them. We (probably mostly me) wanted the curated bound and printed photo album and edited wall prints. As with everything it all depends on what you want and you can afford to do. There were some amazing photogs at the 5,000 + range but they were not in the budget.

Hi Rory! Congrats and welcome to the community! We did 2 photographers for the wedding because photography was our priority and we wanted to make sure that we caught all angles! It was definitely helpful while getting ready so we could have one person with the girls and one with the guys at the same time. Photographers in Vancouver can be a little pricey but we were able to negotiate down a bit because our photographer had worked with a family friend before and was willing to honor the price they paid. Ours was $3600 for 2 photographers for 8 hours and we ended up adding an additional hour as well which was an additional fee.

Make sure when you're deciding how many hours to do, that you factor in all the pictures you'll need to take before the ceremony as that will cut into your total shooting time. We had them arrive 2 hours before the ceremony so they would have time to shoot us getting ready, take shots of the event spaces and the details like rings, programs, etc. If we had done a "first look," they would have needed to come even earlier. I don't think 2 is NECESSARY but I think it's a definite plus. I shopped around and got a great deal for $2000 (which included an engagement session, 2 hours of a photo booth, 2 shooters, unlimted hours, $200 towards a photo printing/photo book).

I definitely recommend doing an engagement photo session with your photographer, while not NEEDED, I loved being able to see how the photographer would work with us and see her style and how she works with us. It really cemented my decision to use her for the wedding

Depending on the photographer your cost might range from 1500$- 3000$ (higher is possible, but lets talk averages!) based on those I spoke to. The length of time you wan tot book, the amount of editing and any included printed or CDs or photo albums will impact the cost.

I chose to book tow photographers. I don't think it is strictly necessary, but I want to have certain moments captured from different angles, and have back ups and extra details. I think that depends a lot on what shots you are hoping to get, and if one person could do it!

I wonder if there is generally a price diffrence between provinces ?

Hey Natasha , and thankyou! Im getting married August 5th, im from Ontario and we moved to BC a year ago. I have found one team of photogs i like and they offer 2 photographers for 8 hours each and the price is 3200, which i think seems on par but want to make sure. I wanted 2 for the exact same reason, plus i have fomo and really dont want to miss any special moments.

All wedding packages are different based on what you are looking for... If you have a photographer for a longer period of time, or have certain things in a wedding package offered such as a photo booth or a wedding book ect. then it will usually cost more money. My photographer automatically has a second photographer coming with her that way they can capture all moments of the day and we didn't have to pay extra! I have found a lot of photographer's out here near Toronto are starting around 1500...

I have 2 photographers, I have them for 7 hours, a photobooth was included for free and we got a discount on engagement photos for booking with her! The total cost is $1945

Well Rory , and welcome to the community .. I have 2 photographers for my wedding in August our wedding pacakge had some extras but for 12 hours with both photogrpahers cost us about $3,000 that included our engagment shoot and as I said some other extras .... I was determined to have 2 photographers that was I know my day will be fully captured from everywhere .. and I loved the idea of a photographer having full attention on my FH getting ready with his guys and one having full attention on me and my ladies and not one person having to split and rush their time.

When in August are you getting married ?
