Photo Wait

Elise, on September 20, 2019 at 19:38 Posted in Just married 0 9

Hi all,

We got married on June 22 and are STILL waiting for our photos. We paid upfront for everything before engagement photos as it was included in the wedding package. I never asked for a specific date to have the photos by as I didn't think it would be an issue but and the photographer was great on the day of but it has been over 3 months and we only have 3 sneak peaks Smiley sad

I am trying to be so patient but I feel like she is just feeding us excuse after excuse and we just want our photos so badly. I also feel like she took on WAY too many events/weddings and maybe that's why it is taking so long but who knows.. Has anyone else had to wait this long?

I got married in July last year and we got our photos in October. It was longer than most other people I knew, but so worth the wait! I know editing can be time consuming and if she took on quite a few events and weddings, she could just have a backlog.
Also, if she works another job and isn’t a full time photographer, there would be less time for editing.
I know it’s hard to wait-I was there this time last year! I would say give it another week and then email again and ask for an eta and stress that you have family coming for thanksgiving or are going to see family for thanksgiving and really thought you would have photos to share with them and see if they can be done by then.

I would just ask the photographer for a specific ETA. If you had a long day with them and they are working on finishing/touch ups, that can take time. That could be compounded by the fact that your wedding was in the height of wedding season, so they might be shooting a new wedding every weekend. My photographer told me from October-April she can get everything touched up in 1-2 months (4-8 weeks), but, during high season, that goes to 3-4 months at the max.

Our engagement photos took 4 weeks to get back during the "off-season".

Thats a long time yo wait. Its better to call and ask when to expect it or get partial payment back. I would leave a comment on their page.
I was told 6 weeks after the wedding and the guy kept his word dropping it personally.

We were told 10-12 weeks (it’s only been three so far, and I want to see the rest sooooo bad!). As others suggested, I’d reach out and ask for a firm date. Good luck, and hope you get them back soon!

I think I’m going to have the same problem with my photographer. I heard she took 10 months to send back wedding photos. It’s been a month and a half for my engagement photos and I haven’t heard anything.

A friend of mine had to wait about that long for hers. She didn't get a firm date before the wedding either and I found the photographer took full advantage of that. The photographer had photos ready of weddings that happened after my friends on her website it was super frustrating. Once she did get the photos they were incredible though. I would ask your photographer for a firm date.

I think the fact she hasn’t communicated to you when you’d receive your pictures is strange - I’d ask to get a firm date from her.

Howeber, in her defence, your engagement photos were done at the beginning of wedding season. So not only did you get pictures done, but she’s also shooting (probably) lots of weddings Friday-Sunday and then editing other people’s photos from the spring Monday-Thursday, including yours.

Id follow up and just ask when you can expect to receive your pictures. Do you have a stipulated timeline in your contract?

We only had to wait 5 days for ours but we were their only engagement photo that month and they wanted to get our photos back to us before June because that’s when their wedding season starts and is super busy.

Have you contacted her to ask for a firm date by which you will receive them? I would be expecting some firm commitments with dates after 3 months.
My wedding was tiny- we only had 98 photos - but I got them within 5 days. 3 months sounds way too long.
