Hi! My partner and I are getting married in Abbotsford BC and I’m wondering if anyone knows if we would need a permit to get married (ceremony only) in a public park. It’s essentially an elopement. It will be us, our two friends and their son, that’s it. I can’t find anything online for such a specific situation.

I found out the permit is not required for weddings in a park I think up to a certain amount of people but I can’t remember now, if you’re doing a small elopement ceremony you don’t need one! Your commissioner or officiant will know for sure tho

We are planning to do something very similar and figure by the time someone figures out what's happening we will be done anyways. We are taking the chance with no permit!
