Outdoor winter wedding

Tara, on September 3, 2020 at 00:37 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Anyone done an outdoor winter wedding, or are planning on one.

This is our second marriage and I have to work around the school year.
We also have 10 acres we can host the wedding on. I'm just kinda lost trying to imagine it all.

Another thing to consider is if there are heavy winds like during a snowstorm, you'll feel it regardless of heaters.

Outdoor Winter wedding is a bit tricky with good points brought up about wet grounds, lighting and temperature.

I would imagine your getting a tent with heaters to keep warm and guests on a floor to walk/dance.

    Hi Tara,
Amelia brought up the main points that I’d be worried about with a winter wedding. I’m assuming you’d have an indoor backup in case of rain?
If you were to do November, you would risk getting married in the rainy part of the fall and the issue is at this time, when it isn’t raining, usually the ground is wet and mud can wreak havoc. If you do get married outside, I’d suggest a ground cover just in case.

Thanks Amelia, it's about 15 guests total and I think we are just going to gather for wine and apps afterwards indoors. Considering November as well might be a little more flexible weather wise.

I would think that keeping guests warm, dry, and comfortable during the winter for an outdoor wedding would require a lot of work. You'll need shelter, you'll need heaters, and power for lighting and heaters.

I would only consider doing the ceremony outdoors if it will be less than 30 minutes, but have an indoor backup in case if weather. And keep in mind that some family may not be able to attend if it's too cold (grandmother's and people with small kids come to mind) The reception I would only do indoors.
