Outdoor wedding

So, our ceremony is outside...and I have no backup plan. I’m going to add “bring an umbrella just incase” to the invite package but am I crazy for not having a back up!? It’s in August, in Canmore. I mean the chances of rain are probably slim...but everything else was booked or required a deposit (and I am not about giving $400 to something I may not use) so really I’m stuck with what I got...haha any reassurance?!

That’s perfect! I was looking at stats for the area and it’s only rained 4 times in the last 5 years!

I’m literally in the same situation! We’re planning on seeing what the weather is like leading up and probably just going to do a tent if the weather is really bad or clear umbrellas if it’s not too rainy.

I say if it rains, then just embrace it!

I brought this up to my fiancé recently since we’re having a farm wedding this summer. I assumed that our tent would be our back up plan but he insists rain or shine we’re getting married outside lol so umbrellas it is (if we need them knock on wood). We went to an outdoor ceremony last summer and the bride made an announcement on Facebook the day before the wedding saying to bring umbrellas just in case because it was calling for rain. It rained for maybe 5 mins and cleared up so that it worked out just fine!

You could write something on the invites "come rain or shine, we'll be outside!" just to let them know to prepare for the weather?

Oh no! Hopefully it doesn't rain on you that day. Maybe buy a bunch of umbrellas or advise guests to bring one *just in case*. We purchased our big, clear umbrella from eBay for super cheap and it came in really quickly.

Unfortunately our venue is so tiny they won’t be able to accommodate it (especially since they are setting up the night before so flowers and decorations can be set up before ceremony)!

If you are at a hotel or something they will have a backup plan for you. If not I would suggest maybe renting a smaller tent that could be set up day of if the weather looks like it is taking a turn for the worst.

We are also having an outdoor ceremony at the hotel where our reception is. They automatically give you a back up plan which is a crappy little room located right beside the courtyard where the ceremony is to be held. Would your reception space allow you to use it for your ceremony if it rained?
