Out-of-town Invites

Seleena, on December 19, 2018 at 13:31 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

Hi everyone! So I moved across country a couple of years ago and all of my wedding guests are flying here from Ontario. What are some things that are a MUST to include in the wedding invitation? I put a lot of information on my page already for flights, hotels, rental cars, ferry etc, but some people are 'old fashioned' and probably don't read it Smiley smile

I'm doing a details card since 75% of guests are considered out of town. Most of them have been to London before, but for those who haven't, I'm putting together some info. on transportation, things to do, etc.

We didn't include anything extra in the invitation. We are in the same situation moving from MB to NS. We put everything important on our website and we have been in regular contact with anyone with additional questions.

That’s actually funny you mentioned that cause I literally had to get gravol on my way back cause I felt so sick. I’ve already mentioned this to a few people 😂😂

Brittany hit the nail on the head!

Being from the upper sunshine coast though and having driven the peninsula a literal million times, I would put something about bringing gravol for motion sickness lol! The peninsula can be super rough, especially for people who aren't used to it, and while some people may roll their eyes at that, a lot will be forever grateful 😂😁

Thank you! This is a great idea. I did add the website link to the back of my save the date cards to give people the hint. I like the idea of the "details" insert though.

I agree 100% with this. Don't even have anything to add but I wanted to let you know that I'm one more person who thinks that this is the best option.

Because it's a destination wedding, your guests need to make an effort to go on your wedding website to get the information.

I did my RSVP's online, but I knew there were about a dozen people who would not be able to figure it out, so I ordered 10 RSVP cards that matched my invitation.

I would suggest maybe providing a "Details" insert with your invitation, with the key info from the website, but if you don't want to get them for everyone, just order enough for the 'non-tech-friendly' crowd (not necessarily the old people, my dad's 65 and he's got no problem with it, but my 45 year old uncle doesn't own a computer).

I would not "clutter up" your nice invitation with extra information when it's only for a few people... I'd keep your invite nice and clean, then add the insert where necessary!
