Out of town family

Tiffany, on October 26, 2016 at 05:39 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4
I have a 7 month engagement! I also have almost all my side as out of town guests! (Around 20-30 people) Any tips on how to help them keep low budget? And how to keep direct family (parents mostly) involved without going crazy!?I think keeping most of the wedding at 1 location will also help a lot, but want a possibility let low budget outdoor wedding. Any thoughts on keeping it simple for a outdoor wedding/reception?

Ah! You could also get the wifi information from the salon and Skype your mom at the dress appointment. Most salons are pretty great about that Smiley smile

The Facebook message thing sounds like a pretty good idea. mine live across Canada so most of them will be flying in. so they also can't be directly involved with the dress which is a bummer. My mom's already started a pinter eat page which will keep her involved and excited haha

Hey Tiffany! My wedding will be at least an hour away for 95% of our guests, so I know how you feel. I totally agree with you, keeping the ceremony and reception in one location will definitely help! You can also book a hotel block, which usually locks a group of rooms in at a lower price. Some hotels even offer extras (for example, the hotel I blocked off gives us a free shuttle bus to bring our guests to and from the wedding and their hotel as long as a minimum of 10 rooms are booked with them).

I also keep both sides of our family involved by inviting them to some appointments (like dress shopping and cake tasting), but otherwise I just let them know after Ive booked something. I also have a facebook group where I post polls and ask for help if I need/want it. I find it really made my family happy and feel involved in the process, but I only posted things that I actually WANTED input on so I didn't go crazy with all the opinions.

Hi Tiffany Smiley heart I'm so happy you already created your first discussion!

It's so great that you out-of-town guests will be able to come to your wedding!! Where are they from? Will they have to take the plane to come to your wedding?

A few brides in the community are also in the same situation. I guess one solution is to book a set of rooms in a hotel near the venue you'll choose.

You can have a look at this discussion to see what other brides did! Smiley smile

Will you book accommodation for your guests?

Sometimes your venue will also have accommodations. You should have a look at vendors in our directory and ask for quotes to see if they fit within the budget.

What type of venue were you considering for an outdoor ceremony and reception? Have you thought of renting a cabin? Smiley smile

How do you like this idea?
