Our Invitations are Not ready & may never be... They were supposed to be in the mail already 😐

Our Wedding date is March 23, 2019. We did not send save the dates. Today my Mom & I were finally going to put our Wedding Invitations in the mail after waiting much longer than we ever expected... I received an email telling us that our Invitations are not ready for pick up & the long & short of it, is they may never be ready! I am terribly upset, shocked & embarrassed at our Invitation Lady. Let's call her Cathy. My Mom & I drove 45 min to meet with Cathy twice b4 my Mom gave deposit. We ordered our lovely Invitations on Dec 6, 2018. I didn't have our meal choices until Dec 20, 2018 due to meal tasting schedule. I had emailed Cathy several times to give her proper spelling, ceremony time, venue address etc & was asking when we'd get to see a mock up etc. Not 1 reply... By Dec 23 & no response to any emails or voicemail, I had no mock up, no script choices etc. I was really freaking out! I finally... got her on the phone that day & she told me that all my emails had gone to her junk mail, that she'd assumed we were overwhelmed with the fact that FMIL was/is awaiting a triple bypass etc. I said umm well you must've received my voicemails & she said, I'm not sure. I've been chasing her ever since. I'd say that I send 3 -4 emails with no response & by day 2 I'd call to get answers. I made it very clear that I needed responses on a regular basis & she assured me np, we had so much time that I was worrying for nothing... We are having her do everything from Guest addresses, our return address to Invitations. What I consider a big job.
The bottom line is that our Wedding Invitations are not ready & the company she used will not give her a finish date or a tracking # b/c obviously they are not done. Apparently when she ordered the glimmer white laser cut shells, they were out of that card stock so they had to order it in. If... I had known that, we would've changed to shimmer white to avoid a hold up but this was not communicated to me until 2 days ago when I was upset we haven't gotten our invitations yet. People are asking where their invitations are which makes me feel embarrassed & makes it look like we've dropped the ball. Cathy says that she has lost sleep over this & if I think I'm upset, imagine how she feels etc. 30 minutes of me in tears (on my birthday yesterday) starring at my Mom in disbelief, apologizes and a whole lot of reasons this is not her fault basically. The only "Solution " she can come up with is that we send out save the dates which she'd incure the costs for & they could be mailed out today by 11am... I said absolutely not b/c save the dates usually go out 6 months prior. She had the idea to send out cards that say "We're getting married!" with our names, date & it says Formal Invitation soon to follow with meal choices & RSVP. (sounds better than that, I don't remember exact wording) My Mom said we must get something in the mail asap, I agreed & they are in the mail now (as far as I know frig) The Invitations we ordered may not come in next week. Will they ever come? I don't know & neither does she really... Shes going to have an email ready to send me for us to choose new invitations (yep, unreal but you read right) on Monday if the company still won't give her answers. The new Invitations would then need to be ordered from a different company. Tick tock is all I can think about. She has everything printed & ready to insert once original or new Invitations arrive. She told me she would call today if she was able to get answers & it's now 5:27 PM with no call. What can I do? I never ever imagined with hiring a reputable professional that this could happen. If you have read all of my rant, I thank you. This has been difficult to share. It is a lot of stress that we don't need, that's for sure.

    Update. I received an email from our Invitation Lady. The email states that our "we're getting married" cards were mailed out on Friday. She also says "good news" your Invitation shells were shipped on Friday, that she has the tracking # and is checking it every few hours & hopes I'm having a wonderful Weekend (I don't know what she could be thinking when my blood pressure is through the freaking roof) She also says that she hopes I'll be less stressed because "our Invitations Should be arriving sometime next week" & it takes a "few" days to get to her shop. I wrote 1 email but had to delete it because I was freaking out.
    I waited an hour and emailed back - the only thing that will make me feel any less stressed at this moment is knowing Exactly when our Invitations are arriving so we can get them in the mail by Early next week. I'm glad the cards were mailed. That's it.
    We are certainly hoping that we find out 2morrow that we can pickup our Invitations on Tuesday.
    With her having all of our Information, Guests addresses done etc, I honestly can't think of doing anything else right now. It sounds simple and should have been b/c when we pick up the Invitations, all my Mom and I need to do is stamp the RSVPs, seal the envelopes and go straight to the post office. I am glad that our Guests will start to receive Wedding Information tomorrow. I think sending those "we're getting married" cards is the only thing letting me get any sleep at all.

    I agree with Alexandra!

    "Cathy" is acting completely unprofessional and at this point, she should give you a refund of whatever amount you've given her. You NEED to get your invitations out and I know that it sucks that you've put in time and effort designing the perfect invitations, but the bottom line is that people need to receive your invitations in a timely manner and it's getting cut close.

    You're generous to give "Cathy" until Monday tbh. I wouldn't be so generous since she's really not acting professional whatsoever.

    Seriously good luck! Remember that at the end of the day the important thing is that you will be getting married to the one you love!

    Thank you Alexandra, it has definitely crossed my mind to start from scratch but I can't even wrap my head around that yet. I spent countless hours choosing wording, font, checking envelope addresses at least 6 times etc. Trying to find the right Invitation for both us was a long road b/c they needed to be elegant but not "girly" for my FH. I really feel like my heart is set on what we ordered & knowing she has said... everything is printed already, I feel like the quickest way to get these out is waiting till Monday to see what is happening. I definitely feel like the ball has been dropped. On Monday there will have to be a big decision made as quickly as possible. My stomach is just churning over this. I appreciate your ideas.

    You poor thing! That’s awful! I would’ve absolutely lost it on her tbh but I have very little control over my temper.

    In all honesty if you dont get answers on Monday I would honestly recommend just doing something like Staples Print Centre where you can order from their template/upload a template and at least then you should be able to pick it up within a couple of days from a staples near you and you don’t have to worry about her not answering you because that’s frankly unacceptable. You’re now being put in such a tough position because you’re getting really close to the big day and they’ve just dropped the ball completely here.

    Thank you Vinod, I appreciate your kind words. I am certainly hoping that the Invitation looks as good as we hope but I won't know till Monday whether or not we are going to get what we ordered Dec 6. Its unreal. I feel like she dropped the ball by 1st not contacting me between Dec 6 - Dec 23. If & that's a big if, my emails & voicemails didn't reach her... then she as the hired professional, she should've been on me asking for our Information knowing we were on a timeline. All I ever heard was your Wedding Invitations are not something you need to stress about. This Lady just got married a few months ago so you'd think she'd realize how stressful this process is. I am definitely disappointed to say the least.

    That's terrible timing and service from a company that takes care of invitations to their clients. I would give a neutral review if they have a website. The fact that the answer to your emails of junk mail is just wrong and not following through knowing you have a time frame to send them out as you wanted.

    I'm glad to hear though that STDs have been sent due to her negligence and the invitations do hopefully arrive on time next week to you. Its stressful yet a relief at the same time. I do hope they do a good job on your invitations too for your guests.

    Thank you Leah. I don't want our Guests to get 2 reminders that our invitations are not out yet. I had posted our Wedding date on FB and will share our engagement story from 3 years ago with something about our Wedding day coming up soon with date. Guests should receive the "we're getting married " card by Monday. I'm glad we have something in the mail.

    Thank you Tori. I can't either, that's for sure. I found the company here on WW and then reached out to her. I honestly thought we were in good hands. I will definitely need to change the reply date. I appreciate the reminder b/c my head is spinning. I believe she feels bad now but I can't excuse her lack of communication.

    I’m sorry you’re going through this. Can you send electronic invitations in the meantime and note that formal invitations will follow?

    I am so sorry to hear this, I can't believe the troubles after going to an actual invitation type of vendor just to find that it isn't working out in your favour. That is ridiculous that she didn't mention the out of stock part - like really??? It's not hard to choose a different colour/shade like you were willing to do!!

    Keep us updated with how everything goes! I would say as long as you have open communication with your guests that you will be fine - just make sure you change the RSVP date to be whatever will work best now!

    Thank you Lisa. I'm honestly still trying to wrap my head around this. I don't know what to do. I know one day it'll be one of those things that happened but boy its a lot right now. I hope we did the right thing by sending out the cards so at least Guests know their invitation is coming... I appreciate you taking the time to read my post

    Wow, I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. Terrible service on her part. Good luck and I hope your get something from her soon!

    i promise at some point after all of this, it will just be a story and your wedding will be fantastic and perfect!
