Our children

Cheryl, on October 25, 2018 at 08:00 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
We have 3 kids, by the time of the wedding they will be 10, almost 5 and 2.5 yrs old...everyone that would babysit for us would be at the wedding and weve never hired a babysitter, I am really hoping to have a backyard wedding, were currently house hunting but if that's not an option then what to do with the kids when they get tired/bedtime, especially if the venue is far away from home? Hire a sitter for the night to watch them for the night in th hotel? I dont know why but this has been my biggest stressor so far

My kids will be 3 and almost 2 when we get married. I'm going to bring a playpen to our venue so if one of them happens to fall asleep we can put them in there. Otherwise were just going to let them stay up late and they will go home with grandparents for the night so we can have the night alone. I would definitely ask some family members if they'd be willing to help out - most times they're more than willing. Good luck!

Family tends to step up a lot during weddings. I’m just going to hand my 4 off to different grandparents and aunties the night of the wedding, so we can have one night alone in the hotel. Haha. They won’t mind at all.

Maybe look into trying to find a babysitter now. and start them out at home/trial basis. and like Tori said, bring them along.

and you would be surprised a family member may totally help out too. my one aunt always helps out with the kids at our family weddings. you never know unless you ask.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I think hiring a babysitter for the night would be my best option, now to find someone I would actually trust!

I'm not sure if I have much say in the matter as I've never had kids - but my mom did have a home daycare for 15 years of my life so I know a thing or two about kids.

What about bringing a play pen for the 2.5 and 5 year old? And a cot for the 10 year old? Trust me - they may not like the loud music, but they can still manage to fall asleep.

I have also been to a wedding where one of the guests brought their babysitter with them for the weekend so they could watch the kids as it was an out of town wedding and no kids were allowed. A lot of the other parents were left thinking "why didn't I think of that??" so it was clearly a good idea.
