Online shopping for suit/tux

Julie, on May 10, 2021 at 21:00 Posted in Wedding fashion 1 11
My fiancé and I are getting married in July 2021. I already have my dress but my fiancé needs his tux. With Ontario still in lockdown and possibly until June has anyone shopped or done an at home try on for suits? We got my bridesmaids dresses azazie where we could order and try on for $15 first. I’ve seen the black tux but I think it’s an American site. Anyone know of any that ship to Canada ?

Its great to know your husband to be can get his custom made suit by appointment and in time for the wedding to look good for you and the colour. The fact the suit stores are allowing for measurements and consultations to take place is great to know what they can do for him.

4Men United is great - they helped me get 5 suits for our April ceremony within a couple weeks notice. Located in Vaughan.
They offer packages & are setting up outdoor consults.

I personally go with Moores and Spier and Mackay. Perfect measurement and reasonable price.

Spier and Mackay for off the rack, Suitsupply for made to measure. Both have in-store and online options in the Toronto area.

Try Tolo Clothiers in Etobicoke! They’re doing virtual and in-person consults right now. I believe they said the timeline was around 6 weeks. Waiting for ours to arrive!

Thanks so much everyone for the input! We’re still trying to figure something out but I think he might try Indochino even with the negative reviews. It seems that most were negative due to the sizing being wrong and having to go a tailor after to fix it up. Which I don’t think is horrible plus Insochino will reimburse you up to $75 if you have to do that. My fiancé really wants a custom suit and he wants red so options are slim. He has a friend who worked at Moore’s so hopefully he’ll measure my fiancé correctly and there won’t be any major problems. Fingers crossed

This is such a timeline question Julie, thanks for asking it. My fiancé and I are getting married in early August and we're thinking to order a suit from Indochino, but after reading these books comments we're not so sure anymore. I look forward to seeing other suggestions about where to order suits online that ship to Canada.

The issue with Indochino is that they make mistakes in their production more often than I would like, and this is documented fairly consistently across reviews. And those mistakes are fixed in their factories in China because no one in their retail stores are actual tailors or people who know how to produce a suit. So with your wedding being two months away, it's cutting it real close should any errors arise.

Personally, I wouldn't go the online rental route. Not only are they terribly constructed tuxedos but you can't alter a rental to fit properly and should anything be off, you can't adjust it either. Your fiancee should look his best on such an important day. Spier and Mackay have two black tuxedos on final sale right now, as well as a navy option if he knows his size. The price they're offering for the quality they have is your best bang for your buck. Suitsupply also has a made to measure option for tuxedos similar to Indochino and they are open for virtual appointments and walk ins.

For budget options, Saks off 5th has some tuxedo options right now that are comparable price and quality to the rentals, so you can order it online and potentially return it.

Since your wedding is in July, try to avoid polyester if you can. Yes, it's cheaper but your fiance will boil in a polyester suit in the summer heat.

Are you absolutely set on getting a tuxedo vs a regular suit? What are your groomsmen wearing?

Check out RW&CO, The Bay, Simons, Tip Top Tailors, and maybe Moores

I’m not sure what your budget is but we got my fiancé and his groomsmen suits from indichino. They are custom made, delivered to your house, the website guides you through measurements and then hopefully when the stores open again in June, any adjustments can be done at the store.
