One stop shop venue?

Just curious on how many people are having their ceremony and reception at the same venue? Is it too much to ask guests to drive to one venue and then ask them to drive another 40 minute to the reception?

Appreciate your input! I'm still hoping to stumble on a venue I love that can accommodate both!

That sounds romantic! It would be nice to have that flexibility. My stubborn FH would like to be married specifically at 3:00pm.. wish me luck on my hunt!

Thanks for sharing Jackie, maybe that'll happen for me as well and I won't have to make the decision after all! Smiley smile

Thank you Rebecca! I would prefer to have both at one venue to make it easier on everyone like you mentioned, but I'm having trouble finding a venue I love both spaces. I either love the ceremony area or the reception area..maybe I should take this as a hint to keep looking!

Appreciate the feedback! I'm so tossed between whether I should stick to one venue to make it easier on everyone, including myself or if I should do both! I loved the ceremony venue I saw but wasn't crazy on their reception area.. decisions decisions..

I’m having my guests do that! Not 40 minutes but 20.

We did everything at one venue too to cut the driving down and in a remote and remote area away from the city.

The welcome dinner was only 15 minutes away from the venue making it easy for the guest driving one road.

We are doing everything at one venue. We are also getting married around 6pm so it’s nice people aren’t waiting around afterwards.

We to are doing everything in one location. Easier for all of us but really it just worked out that way. I would have done the two different locations if it weren’t for the fact that the venue I wanted was booked.

We are having everything in one spot, but we are in cottage country and it will all be at a resort. Honestly I chose this more because it made planning easier, rather than just thinking of guests. As a guest at weddings in the past when we had to travel between ceremony and reception, that never bothered me. If you can arrange for transportation then that's great, but people usually don't have a drink and really need to park somewhere for the night until cocktails/reception anyway! As long as guests are aware of the schedule ahead of time, they probably won't mind.

Honestly this was one of those things that was important to me. To make it easier for everyone just because they’re already coming from all over. I’m having my ceremony and reception at the same place. However I’m not having a religious ceremony so its easy for me to have everyone at the same location.. as I’m not going to a church. Some people won’t be going to the ceremony no matter what you decide to do unfortunately ! It’s usually just close friends and family. All depends on what you want, do what makes you happy !

We're doing it all together... Ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Our venue has a lot of different areas to it and we have exclusive use of it, so it worked out well.

I personally didn't want to make my guests commute in the middle of the day, however, as long as you communicate with them in advance it'll be fine.

Yes, I have considered transportation; it's just all of our guests are from all over the GTA so I don't know how productive arranging transportation would be as they would all be coming from different places/going home to different places.

Although our preferred venue will not allow our guests to arrive before 5:00pm. I guess I may have to start looking at other options. Thank you Christina!

Both the ceremony and reception are at the same location for us, but we're up on a mountain and most of our guests are coming over from Europe, so even if we would want different venues it'd be hard for them to move around since they don't know anything here.

I think in general it shouldn't be too much to ask tho. If you're really worried and it fits your budget you could always provide transport for your guests?

If you have a time gap like that maybe have some games or photo booth there for guests to do. Or maybe a longer cocktail hour so guests could socialize. Smiley smile

Thanks Jamie, this is great! I was thinking of a shuttle bus but all of our guests are coming from different areas of the GTA and it isn't far enough to get a hotel for the night. The two venues I am looking at are 35-40 mins from one another, however, I'm worried of what my guests will do during our pictures (after the ceremony) as the ceremony will end at 3:00pm and the reception will only start around 5:00pm. I can't send everyone home to ask them to drive back for our reception.

Our venue is a one stop shop! We will have the ceremony and reception there, and they do all of the catering for us! It has been so easy to coordinate everything with them!

Is the first venue far from where your guests will be staying for the wedding? I think as long as your guests are aware of the distance between the two, it isn't a huge deal. The only thing you may want to look into is the possibility of arranging a shuttle for your guests - you could do one from a specific pick up location to the reception venue, and then back to a select few drop off locations? Just a thought Smiley smile We have one arranged for our guests, as it is a 20-30 minute drive from our hotel selection to the venue, just a nice gesture!
