One Groomsman - Outfit?

Kirsten, on January 13, 2020 at 18:52 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 8
We will have 1 groomsman and 3 bridesmaids. All bridesmaids are matching in colour and style (wasn’t planning to match but ended up that way!).

With only 1 groomsman what are some good outfit options? Should he fully match the groom? Would it be weird for groom to have a blue suit and groomsman to have a different colour suit (different shade of blue, or grey). Or should we do same pants/tie/shirt but no jacket? Our wedding is in July at a lodge, very casual and only 25 people. I just have no style and I’m very visual, so I’ve been trying to look up picture examples but not sure what to do.

I personally don't like having the groom and groomsmen wear the same colour suit since it can be hard to tell which one is the groom, even with different tie/pocket square colours - but that's me and a situation with 2+ groomsmen.

I think for your situation, you want the groom and groomsman to match somewhat, but again not be matchy-matchy. Since your groom is in a blue (not navy), Your groomsman could be in a navy suit since it'll still match the groom, but then a tie/pocket square to match the bridesmaids, like Rayanne mentioned. You could also do the same pant colours but not have a jacket for your groomsman.

I would say to have the GM match his tie to the colour of the BM's, and then your FH's tie to be whatever your other colour(s) are. That or one of them where a bow tie?

And then you could also seperate them by having only the groom wear the vest - but I wouldn't have the GM wear the 3 piece and not the groom personally.

I think my own style would be to have the guys suits match a bit more where there are just two of them.

You could do a different style of tie for each of them, or maybe one has a vest under his jacket and the other doesn't. Or maybe the groom has a boutonniere and the best man has a pocket square so that they are mostly similar with different small details.

Could you put the groomsman in a navy suit with Chianti tie and pocket square?

Bridesmaids colour is Chianti (wine colour), long dresses. Groom is planning to wear a two piece suit in blue (brighter blue rather than navy).

What colour(s) are in your wedding? What are bridesmaids wearing what colour is groom wearing? You don't want him to look exactly like the groom I don't think.
