Officiant Honorarium

Marcia, on June 6, 2018 at 16:55 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 4

Hello Brides! Any brides that are having a pastor officiate there wedding. How much do you generally pay a pastor for officiating your wedding? He is not charging us to officiate but I know you generally give an honorarium/donation to the church and/or pastor. My FH and I can't decide what amount we should give. Is there a general guideline?

We are doing $250 I believe. It doesn't actually go to the pastor though, it is a donation to the church.

In my province, you have to have a specially trained justice of the peace do the ceremony or it is not a legal marriage. If you do it at the court house, their rate is $100 and anywhere else $300 plus travel. I don't know if it is an equal comparison because the province sets the rates, but might be a good jumping off point.
