Officiant Decision

How are you deciding on an officiant? How much are you going to spend on this? I'm finding that the prices are all over the place from $80-$500 and then also some require paying for mileage. I know you meet with them first to decide if you like them - but I don't know I'd like anyone enough to spend...

I'm finding that the prices are all over the place from $80-$500 and then also some require paying for mileage. I know you meet with them first to decide if you like them - but I don't know I'd like anyone enough to spend $500 for 30ish minutes. haha It seems a little ridiculous some of these prices! haha BUT I have no clue. Maybe I'm way off base saying that's too expensive! Just looking for your thoughts Smiley smile

Is this the equivalent of a marriage commissioner or is that different?

Our lady we chose in Victoria is $100 dollars. She actually married my parents too so we thought that was kinda cute. I think it all depends too. Our lady is a justice of the peace. Which looking into it is the cheapest and were not religious so it works for us.

I like to think it's a low cost considering it's the most important vendor of your wedding and the one that legalizes your union to your partner.

We are non-religious so we are going with a municipal clerk as our officiant. She was highly recommended by other married couples in my city. We had a great conversation and she is very flexible in terms of ceremony layout so it made our decision quite easy.

We are paying $425, but because she is a municipal clerk this includes all costs associated with our marriage license as well.

Since you're in BC you can just book a marriage commissioner and I think that's the most affordable option. If you want to go with a private company it's going to be expensive no matter what. Your only other option is a religious official if that's something you're comfortable with but I've heard sometimes they even charge a lot!

My fiance and I are paying I believe 425 for our pastor and that includes the rehearsal.
We booked ours because we loved the conversation we had with him. I always say go with your gut feeling. If you two have a great connection then go for it and if you don't, don't settle you'll find someone that will fit for your wedding!
