Officiant - cost?

Ashleigh, on July 28, 2017 at 18:29 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 28
Hello Brides & Grooms! One year to go, choosing an officiant is our final big decision. Just curious what they typically charge for a service? As a couple, are we expected to build a bit of a relationship with them leading up to the wedding? We are having a non-religious ceremony. Just curious what to look for and how much to budget. Thanks in advance! (Wedding is in Durham Region, ON)

    Hi Taylor

We are looking to do exactly that, having the officiant sign the document while a family member conducts the ceremony. Would you still have your contact's info?

    Thanks!

Every officiant is different. We found ours charges based on the size of your wedding plus length of ceremony. Remember to ask about their travel charges or other fees they may slip in like for rehearsals and meetings.

We are in Barrie, Officiant Tanya is from Wasaga Beach, getting married in Moonstone with 36 people. $225 for non-religious ceremony, we are doing our vows. Plus $50 travel charge. https://www.butterflyblisshealing.ca/spiritual-ceremonies

I got lucky and only have to pay 150 but shes only there to do the signing. my brother is doing the ceremony but he cant legally sign the licence and thats where she comes in. But even then she only wanted 260 which was cheaper then most of them in the area. I have been quoted 360 to 600. needless to say i snatched her up instantly

Ask a friend or close family member to perform the ceremony it will be more meaningful and the cost is about 100 to have them registered as the officiant for your wedding

Hi Sarah, Our officiant's name was Paula DaNova. Her telephone number is (416) 268-8965. You can check her reviews online. The price I quoted was for 2017 so I don't know what her current rates are. Good luck!

I went through All Seasons to find our officiant - we ended up meeting at a local spot and chatting for awhile .. and then went home to see how we felt - it was easy - All Seasons will match you with someone in your location or give you a list -- I'm in Peterborough (not too far from the Durham region).. cost is $386

We're paying $400 for our officiant. She is one of the owners of the venue. I was wondering about the same thing about having some kind of interaction/relationship- we only met her one time for maybe 5 minutes so it seems kind of weird that she is going to be a big part of one of the most important events in our lives. We only communicate by email and it kind of feels impersonal to me. I wrote our ceremony and she will need to review it to make sure I have all the legal parts, so I hope we can meet face-to-face for that.

We were quoted between $350 and $450... It was more cost effective for us to have it at a church.

It will be around $300 dollars to hire a wedding officiant , still cheaper than renting a church or hotel ballroom for wedding ceremony Smiley smile

I'm in Durham region also. We chose an officiant from Toronto who has conducted over 2,000 weddings and her ratings were excellent. We chose a simple ceremony so she sent me two scripts to look over and I picked one. I spoke to her on the phone for about half an hour and got to know her a bit, and vice versa. Her fee is $250.00 for the simple ceremony, and she will come to Ajax for ours. Others were charging $350.00 to $450.00.

I found mine on kijiji! She's charging $200 and includes travel and rehearsal because she's just starting out. I met with a couple of people that are vendors here but they were intense.
I don't think you need a relationship. It just depends how personal you want the service to be. She just asked a ton of questions about us and asked what we wanted in a ceremony. We wanted just the basics with a couple of inclusions so we are pretty straight forward.

Hi Ashley, we went through All Seasons Weddings as they were suggested by our venue. They had a list of different officiants and each of them had a description of what kind of ceremonies they did and described themselves which i liked. I think they all had different prices but I believe ours was about 350$ or so which I'm not sure is a good price or not but we were willing to pay it and the lady seemed really nice so we are happy with our decision. Best of luck with the planning!
