October Weddings!

Allison, on October 30, 2018 at 12:48 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12

This is for anyone getting married, or has gotten married in October (of any year!).

What is your date?
We're getting married October 19, 2019!

What made you decide to do October?
For us, October is a significant month for us (starting dating, got engaged). We also wanted to go on our honeymoon in the Caribbean right after the wedding while avoiding hurricane season.

Are you incorporating Thanksgiving or Halloween into your wedding?
We're not, but definitely considered Thanksgiving weekend or a Halloween theme!

Are you getting married locally or destination?
We looked into a destination wedding but ultimately decided on a local wedding that will have destination vibes.

How far along are you into planning?
We have most of the big stuff booked (veune, food, booze, photography, officiant, DJ, hair stylist). I also have all of my attire except for jewellery. I'm currently working on my Save the Dates design. (I finally have my engagement photos - will post this week!) and going to meetings so will be getting some stuff done this week, along with some guest list work with each side.

    Date Twins!

    We're getting married October 19, 2019!

We chose October because we LOVE the fall, and we chose the 19th because 1. I like the way it sounds 19.10.19 it just looks so pretty. 2. It's 6 days after my FH's parent's anniversary and 5 days before FH's grandparent's anniversary! 3. Because it's right in between Thanksgiving and Halloween so it's not effecting anyone's celebrations! and 4. We can celebrate our birthdays and wedding anniversary all in one shot! He's 3 weeks after the wedding, I'm a month after him, so if we ever go away to celebrate an anniversary we can do a 3 in 1 trip!

    Not incorporating Thanksgiving or Halloween.

    Getting married locally!

We have all the big stuff! Venue, Ceremony, Photography, Videography, Dj, Lighting, Makeup, Hair, Day of Coordinator, Dress, and I'm just about to secure decor/floral!

I have a feeling October 19 is going to be the most popular day of 2019!

We are getting married October 13 2019, it's the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. We chose this because my FH is from NB and it will give his family a chance to come to the wedding. We are having a Thanksgiving dinner at the reception with homemade pies for dessert. Our late night snack will be a small cake with cupcakes and we are trying to figure out what else to have. We are getting married locally and as long as the weather holds out the ceremony will be outdoors. I love the idea of having some sunset photos. The only things that are booked it the venue and catering, I also have my dress. We know what the invitations will look like, just not ordered yet. Still pricing out photographers, narrowed down to 2 bakers and 2 dj's.

    Congrats on your recent wedding!

All my activities are indoors at the hotel I'm getting married at so I'm not worried about snow!

We just got married this past weekend. We chose October because I live for fall, and my husband proposed after our annual trip to pumpkinferno. He even had his sister carve "will you marry me" in pumpkins. Our date ended up being exactly 2 years and a week from the day he proposed. As such, we did incorporate fall decor, including pumpkins.

Gentle warning to all you late October brides, be prepared for possible snow! Our fall wedding turned into a winter wonderland, with the first snowstorm of the year happening on our wedding. However it just made the day all the more beautiful.

Good luck to all you brides. If you have any questions, or need some tips and trick - don't hesitate to let me know Smiley smile. I learned a lot throughout the planning process!

When is your date? October 10, 2020

What made you decide to do October?
love the fall colours and cooler temperatures. Pictures look more crisp with the brightness of leaves. Originally wanted to share my grandparents anniversary (Oct 11) due to reasons but wanted my own day but still close.

Are you incorporating Thanksgiving or Halloween into your wedding?
We are. Our wedding falls on the Saturday of thanksgiving weekend, bonuses - long weekend for out of town guests, a holiday based around family time and easy menu choice (less fighting over meat choices ;P)

Are you getting married locally or destination?
at my in laws farm. My family will be commuting to come.

How far along are you into planning?
since we have just under two years we have time. I have started to narrow down my choices (tent company, caterer, photographer). By there new year we will start booking and confirming.

I feel like I've done so much...but there's still so much to do!! I'm ordering peacock feathers in bulk off of Amazon probably sometime this week, which is the start of the decor - which is minimal but again, lots going on.

I've actually had my e photos for a week - just haven't had time to look through them all with busy time at work! But I'm on a wedding planning vacation this week so I'll be able to post in the next day or two! Smiley laugh

My wedding date is Saturday October 5th 2019!!! I can't believe that anybody getting married in October of next year is basically under a year to go (with the exception of the 31st... but that's tomorrow!!!)

We chose October because a couple things. First off, out of the four seasons I veto'd summer because I don't wanna have a sweat filled day. Then my FH veto'd winter because he just didn't want a winter wedding? So out of spring and fall we agreed that fall is nicer and less chance of snow as we guarentee there still being snow in spring but could possibly get away with no snow that early in October. It was also an added bonus that it works out with all the farmers on my side of the family that harvest should be just ending by then. Also - the 5th is our dating anniversary but for March, so it's a different month but same day Smiley smile

We won't be going for a spooky or Thanksgiving theme. In fact one of the added reasons as to why we didn't go with the 12th was to avoid that. As for Halloween, I love it - but it's just not wedding-y enough for us. (Even though Halloween is my FH's favourite holiday!!)

We are getting married outside the city so it won't be local but it's definitely not a destination either!! Just a cute little resort 45 minutes East of the perimeter Smiley smile

As for planning.... well.... We have the big stuff booked for the most part? With that being said, we have; venue, food, photography, officiant, my dress (and veil +headband), and save the dates are made up just need to wait to send them out in December/January.

This means that I still need to confirm a DJ for the social & wedding, get the contract signed with our bar tenders, get my shoes and jewellery, hair stylist, MUA, and basically all the decor....etc. So much to do yet!!!

Can't wait to see the E-photo's!!

    Yay for October Weddings!

We are getting married October 4, 2019!

I love fall, and my FH hates being hot and sweaty. Especially in a suit! So I am hoping October will be beautiful next year! Plus just like you we get to go away after the wedding (Most likely November) and not worry about being in the middle of hurricane season.

We will not be incorporating thanksgiving or halloween. Just a rustic chic theme!

We went back and forth with destination and local, but are getting married locally due to family. Our ceremony and reception is only about 15 mins away from our house!

We also have all the big stuff done! Venue, DJ, Photographer, Hair and Makeup Stylist, Florist, Officiant. I have my dress (picked it up a couple weeks ago) and my hair piece. I have my save the dates and invitations designed just waiting for a good deal before we order them. Currently looking into Bridesmaid dresses, and my wedding shoes!

It will all come super fast! Can't wait!
