Non-symmetrical party

Alyssa, on March 4, 2020 at 01:17 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Both mine and my fiancé’s parties are having 5 people, 6 including each of us. This is fine, however I am having a tough time knowing the photos won’t be symmetrical due to the even number in each party and therefore couples. Any tips on how to have photos look good without the symmetry?

My dad was freaking out that I won’t be having an equal amount of bridesmaids to groomsmen but I think it’s going to look so cool in photos. I have 4 girls and he’s got around 8-10 guys. I’m planning to take scattered group photos, so I’m not pairing people. I might pair one or two, but I wanted very vogue-esque photos so some guys will be posed by themselves, some seated on the stairs etc. I think a lot of wedding parties are much more modern and non traditional these days !

Photos with the wedding party can be scattered so it looks natural. Lined up behind you both with the arms going in the upward and downward directions to make it spontaneous. There are many possible pictures on pinterest to check out under bridal party photos to get an idea and what you want to have done for the photographer to take.

Im not sure anyone will notice but you and the groom can just move sides each time? like stand in the middle and then move one to the left or right?

I think you can arrange them so it's girls together and guys together for most photos and mix them together however you like. People aren't as strict about the photo arrangements as our grandparents were.

To me the idea of couples and perfect balance in a wedding party has gone a bit out the window, especially with men of honour or groomsmaids and people who don't identify or dress in a traditional gender role. If one of my bridesmaids was more comfortable in a suit I wouldnt make her stand with the guys, I'd just roll with it. Or if my fiance wanted his brother and sister to stand with him I would not expect her to wear a suit to match them.

I had the exact number of people for my wedding party and I don't think it looked that off? I wouldn't worry too much or over think it - but to be on the safe side maybe stick to girls on one side and boys on the other for some of the pics?
