Non-lace sleeves for summer wedding?

Stacey, on May 27, 2019 at 10:41 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 3

Hello all,

I finally had a breakthrough with dress shopping! I was starting to get very discouraged, but I really felt the consultant I had yesterday immediately understood what I was looking for. I'm actually shocked to say that I found two dresses I like!

The first, a crepe fit and flare with three-quarter sleeves (not lace, think Megan Markle), with an off-the-shoulder neckline.

The second, a silk A-line with spaghetti straps (visible only from the back), square neckline and open back.

They're different, but very simple and classic, which is the look that I'm going for.

The issue is that while I would be happy in either dress, I do have a preference for dress one;however, my wedding is in early July and I am a bit worried about the heat. The ceremony and reception are both indoors and will have AC, but we will be doing some pictures outside prior to the ceremony, and during the cocktail hour (average high of 27, low of 15).

Is this a bad idea? Has anyone done non-lace sleeves for a summer wedding?

It depends on the material too. There are other materials other than just lace that are totally breathable..

Are you someone who runs hot usually in the summertime? If so I'd stick with sleeveless, your reception may have AC but with the dancing, you'll feel the warmth there! Also if you get nervous, stress sweats are a thing so you might encounter that even before the ceremony.

I'd personally stick with sleeveless, especially in July in Southern Ontario.

I mean, just make sure you have a fan on hand and lots of deodorant and I would say to go with the dress you feel like a bride in and can picture yourself walking down the aisle in! Heck, my wedding is in October and I don't care if I'm too cold - I can tough it out for the outdoor ceremony!!
