Non Bridal Party

Emily, on December 10, 2017 at 06:34 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 19
Hi everyone,

My FH and I have decided we won’t be having a traditional wedding party. We have incorporated our siblings into the ceremony and are going to do more of an “unbridal party”. So I plan to do something sweet for a few of my girl friends and ask them to wear the colours for our wedding and give them matching flower bracelets. I also plan to invite them to the morning of for a brunch and the getting ready/toast.

Just wondering if anyone else went this route and had any suggestions.

That's a sweet idea. I would of had my sister on my bridal party but I don't even know if she will be at my wedding just because she doesn't know if she can afford to travel with 3 kids.

Aiming for no more than 150 for both!

Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can get away without doing a bridal party!

Kind of on the same boat here. We both want to do something like this, with 2 men for each of us, but I do not want to put any of those 4 people under pressure. We will also do boutonnières, and will buy same ties/bow ties for all, and maybe same socks. But I think this will be pretty much it.

I think a bridal party is definitely a very special thing! That’s what I love about weddings. They are so personal and different for every couple. Since we both have very small families we’re keeping it intimate! I think around 55 for the ceremony and between 100-120 for the reception! How about you??

Ooooh I love that idea for speeches, we wanted to avoid that too. We do have a lot in common!

That’s a great idea! I’d love to do a non-bridal party (I have too many close girlfriends/siblings that things WILL get large and out of hand), however, my FH wants groomsmen so... bridal party it is!

How many people are you having at your wedding?

Yeah I completely agree! It’s not for us. I googled some ideas and spoke to a friend who doesn florals for weddings. I liked her idea of doing flower bracelets and boutinneres for the guys. Also we don’t want a bunch of speeches during our ceremony so I like the idea of doing that more intimately before the wedding for anyone who wants to while we get ready.

Because they won’t be. We aren’t having anyone stand up with us at the alter. We won’t have a bunch of tasks for specific people to do ahead of the wedding. No rehearsal dinner etc.

I'm confused. How is this different from a bridal party, if they are serving the same function?

I'm doing this too, I don't want there to be any pressure about matching dresses and who made the bridal party/who didn't, just not sure how to make it so it still feels special and exciting for everyone. My fiancee's daughters are standing up with us, so there won't be any hard feelings that way.

I love this idea it allows you to have them be a part of your special day with out the stress of having to organize a bridal party!
