We wont know his schedule until they call and tell him his training starts. Could be up to two weeks in advanved, but from there we can figure out the timing and set the date. Im thinking city. For the ceremony i was originally thinking a beach wedding but there isn't any nice ones i like around my city. So if we can find a venue that does both ceremony and reception or might do a church wedding. I was looking at the styles of wedding and leaning towards modern.

Hi Jessica! I feel like you've done quite a lot already! Congrats! You're quite on top of things! Smiley star When will you know more about your fiancé's schedule? I hope things will go well! You can take a look at these ideas in the meantime:

    Modern or Vintage Wedding?

Will your wedding be civil, religious or symbolic?

    City, beach or countryside?

Maybe you could also start dress shopping? What type of venue would you like to go for? City or countryside?

Yea i know. I want to set a date but have to wait on my fiance's work training because he has to leave and who knows when he will be going and when he will be home for the wedding. We are starting to plan bit by bit each week. Just want an idea where to start. Have a guest list going and some other little ideas.

I wouldn't start planning too much as you will tend to make many decisions around your venue. You can definitely start looking at photographers, but you'll want a firm date before you actually book anything (as the vendor could be booked that date or not travel that far or something). I would search Pinterest and the like to just have PLENTY of ideas and start narrowing down what you do and don't want for your wedding.

We are also thinking of a buffet style for food (not specific of what kind of food yet) and possibly of the DJ in mind

So far we have dates to avoid (bdays and anniversaries of immediate family). So we have possible dates from there, but mainly waiting on my fiance's work application process to see when he will be available to set a date. Trying to arrange a time between his training and right now its the waiting game. I feel we cant even look at venues yet.
We have an approximate guest list already and already adding or taking out and figuring out who to invite to the ceremony and reception if we decide to have certain people not come to reception to down the price of food and seating.
We have talked about the colours we want and the type of flowers. I have talked to my maid of honour about cheap center pieces and possibly a gift of sorts for guests.
We are thinking of the months march to Sept because I don't like the cold and dont want goose bumps showing in our pictures. I have a photographer in mind depending on how our engagement photos go.
We also have our first song. It may seem like a lot but we havent really decided too much. Im in school so planning to sit and talk and plan each week so it isnt overwhelming all at once when im done school.

Hi Jessica! Welcome and congratulations! A good place to start would be to sit down with your fiance and each pick your top 3 priorities for the wedding. (food, location, dress, decorations, flowers, music, photography, videography, etc) Once you have your priorities, you can build your budget around that.

Next step would be making a loose guest list. Put down everyone you could ever want to invite and then start narrowing it down from there so you have an idea of how many people you plan on hosting.

You can start researching venues. Sometimes the venue can help you determine a date depending on their availability. And some places can be reserved more than a year in advance so it's good to start looking at places that will meet your needs! Generally if you're going back and forth with a venue and you have a particular date in mind, they will give you a heads up if someone else wants it so you can put down a deposit if you want.

You can definitely start researching your other vendors now as well like photographer, makeup, hair, etc. Summer is typically busy for weddings so they can all be booked a year out. And some vendors do price increases at the start of a new year so if you start looking now, you could potentially lock in a cheaper rate for next year.

What do you have so far?
