No first dance

Danielle, on August 24, 2018 at 20:18 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5
Hey all. So here’s what’s happening. My fiancé and I aren’t doing a first dance and we will not be told otherwise. Firstly, my father passed away recently and usually first dances tie into the whole father daughter dance and I just don’t need that kind of emotion on my wedding day. Secondly, we find it really awkward being in the spotlight so we just don’t want to! People have been giving us a really hard time about it (not our families, it’s only been friends surprisingly!). I just want to make sure people have fun at the wedding and enjoy themselves. So I was thinking of going with an alternative fun thing, like having the groomsmen do a funny dance? Any ideas out there? Thanks Smiley heart

Our daughter's bridal party is going to step out on the dance floor to the YMCA. It's loved by all and everyone know is. Now if you are all crazy like our family the family dance after it is The Time Warp. We are strange, I know LOL Smiley smile Good luck and sorry about your loss. Smiley sad

We picked an upbeat first dance song (hooked on a feeling by blue suede) and the song started playing well before we got onto the dance floor because the start of that song is impossible to dance to haha. So we danced for maybe 30 seconds before the wedding party joined us with their Significant others. And then about halfway through the song our MC called everyone to come join us on the floor.

It worked really well and kicked off the dance party, but still got our 'first dance' in. We had a full dance floor all night!

Get your wedding party to do the chicken dance. Its funny and entertaining at the same time.

My brother started his dance with a line dance. Someone taught us the steps, then played a song and it got most people up on the dance floor.

Another option is the cha cha slide! Don't know if that's the actual title, but it basically tells you what to do so anyone can do it!

Ask your DJ what’s the best song to get everyone up on the dance floor. Then maybe have you two and the bridal party start out for all of 30sec - 1 min and then they can call everyone else onto the dance floor with you. Or better yet have the bridal party ask guests to dance and pull them onto the floor (only if they’re willing obviously).
