No first dance.

Is anyone planning to not do the traditional first dance or father-daughter dance? My FH is not a dancer and not into having too much attention on him and neither is my father. Im totally ok with this, but usually the first dance gets people up and dancing. Advice on getting the party started?

I've seen some couples invite other married couples onto the dance floor with the bride and groom so they can share the love. Something was said before-hand about bringing together the combined years of the couples on the floor and the new couple matching the years of love in their own marriage. It was really sweet!

Mu husband was the same in the feeling of attention. He realized to go with the flow and have a song for us every year and every time he hears it to know thats our song.

We did a mother and sons dance too which was memorable. A Mother's Song by Jim Brickman beautiful song.

You could have the whole wedding party do a first dance. There have been some cool choreographed dances I've seen on Youtube and such. Or, what we are doing is we will dance together for the first verse and chorus and then invite other couples to join us.

We just picked an upbeat first dance song (hooked on a feeling by blue suede). We will probably damce for about 40 seconds just us 2 and then our wedding party will join us dancing and hopefully that will trigger everyone to start dancing Smiley smile so super short first dance for us!

I was literally just discussing this today. My FH wants to do a first dance and I'm sure my father will too. If it were up to ME, I wouldn't do either just because that's not me (however, my tastes have been changing since I began planning this wedding, so who knows what I'll be saying in 6 months).

I think you could just have the MC invite everyone to the dance floor to get the party started. Make sure to use an upbeat popular song that most people will want to dance to and make sure to go up yourselves and set the example.
