No caterer tastings because of covid

Eva, on September 2, 2020 at 01:34 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4
Hey everyone! Hope your wedding planning is going smooth. Just wanted to ask how you guys are booking for caterers since all of the ones I’ve contacted are not doing any tastings due to Covid. Is everyone booking blind and only going off of testimonials? All the caterers have referred me to their testimonials on their site but of course they would only post good ones. Just wanted to see how everyone else is making their decision.

The risk of going blind can be good or bad depending on what you have chosen. The variety of what can be seen appeasing wise would say for its presentation though the taste is hard to tell of what it would be.

It would have been nice if the caterer would offer samples made and boxed with labels of the meals.

We were fortunate that our venue has a restaurant attached to it so we are there before covid broke out, so we know their food is good.
Are any caterers offering sample packs? I know some bakeries are, so maybe that’s an option?

My fiance and I are going in blind with our food choices. Only because we don't live in the province that we"re getting married in. But we've defiantly read all of the reviews about each menu and we're certain that we'll have a great meal no matter what choice of food we choose

Is this an in-house caterer of the venue or is it external catering? Does the venue have in-house catering for you to explore?

Does your venue have a kitchen or are you looking for ready to eat meals upon delivery?

If you absolutely want to sample your wedding meal and are getting turned around from catering companies, you can try using a restaurant instead. Practically all restaurants are open in some capacity. If you order potential meals as take out, you can sample the food with the same experience as the guests who will receive it the day of.
