Nervous About Dress Fitting

Brittany, on June 28, 2019 at 11:28 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 14

I have a dress fitting tomorrow! Haven't tried on my dress since before the new year.

I have lost about 28 pounds since, and a lot of boob. Smiley xd

My seamstress wanted to do a check in fitting, before she started working on it as she knew I was trying to lose weight.

I am nervous and excited at the same time.

I am excited as I never took real measurements before... so my dress will be a good indicator as to how much size I have actually lost. ( I just tried on jean shorts and a skirt that haven't fit in over 2 years, and they fit! YAY!)

But I am also worried it is going to make my dress sit funny. Especially since it is strapless sweetheart with a plunging V. It looked good when I could fill it out... but I am worried my bust isn't going to be large enough for my dress anymore.

Wish me luck!

It went well ! It had to be taken in two whole dress sizes ! I still want to lose more. But she told me I shouldn’t until the wedding. She says if it has to be altered much more it will not sit right. So I guess I’m maintaining until then !

Not to worry love, seamstresses are magic and my seamstress says a lot it's easier to make something smaller than to make it bigger.

Wish you all the best for the dress fitting and hope its perfect. The seamstress would have solutions that can help with the bust if needs to be altered.

Its great news to hear you lost weight at the same. It is good to know your doing good for your body and yourself.

She can probably add a push-up cup pretty easy, seamstresses are basically magic!

My appointment July 24 is more a check-in and start the hemming/bustling at least. I'm hoping we meet during the process so we can keep track of weight loss and if any more alterations are needed.

Thanks! Congrats on yours too! Smiley smile

Yeah my first fitting she put cups in to try, but they weren't really padded.

I might see if she has some with a little more oomph now that I need it haha.

    Thank you!

Yes that's why she wanted me to come in for a check in fitting. So she knows how much I have been losing, and can schedule more appointments closer too if necessary. (Know's whether she should hold off on alterations, or if it's a safe bet to start working)

I am really only worried about the chest area. Because of the way it is constructed with the deep plunging V... just not sure how that is going to work out. May need to add some extra padding !Smiley xd

Congrats on the weight loss! That's super amazing!

From personal experience, do not worry, seamstresses are honestly the best, and will always find a way to make things work.

Since I ordered my dress, I have lost about 30lbs. I knew that there was going to be a little bit that needed to be taken in. I had my first fitting the beginning of June and she took in an inch on each side! As for the boob area, I am in the same situation. See if she can add cups to the dress. This way you can place your boobs on top to make them push up!

    Congrats on your weight loss!!!

I did the complete opposite, my dress fitted loosely around the bust area when I first got it and I've definitely gained 5-10 pounds Smiley xd . I haven't tried it on since the weight gain so I'm hoping: 1) I still fit in my dress, and 2) I will be able to loose a bit before alterations. I'm worried I'll loose a bit white she's working on it and then have to do MORE alterations, but I'm trying not to worry too much because worrying = stress eating for me!

Even if you loose while your seamstress is working on it, it's always easier to take in a dress vs. letting one out! Plus a really good one will be able to reconstruct your dress to fit YOU!

Thank you! I sure hope so.

I've just been freaking out a bit about it.

When I got my dress I thought about ordering a size down.. but I was nervous I wouldn't lose the weight. And now that I have lost the weight I am hoping my dress is fixable haha.
