Need help with a late afternoon early evening timeline for a micro wedding with 14 ppl

Genna, on November 10, 2021 at 12:09 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 3

Dinner is served at 630 and that cant be changed. We are getting married in the mountains in BC (Cherryville) July 8 and dont want to go too late because possibly less light. We arent going crazy with photographs at all and there are 12 guests but 6 of them are in the wedding party. We are fine with a cocktail hour and wanted to lead into the reception so there isnt much of a wait. We will wed at the lake then go back to the house....its all on the same site. I need to narrow down the timeline for the photographer and commissioner

A general idea for the Reception is set for 6 30 and depending when you want to start your getting ready/first looks can depend on your afternoon. We had 6pm Reception start and 1pm getting ready start timing. Timing schedule guide:

1 hour time for getting ready with the bridal party and photos with the wedding party and family

20 minutes first look photos (optional)

40 minutes for the procession and wedding

45 minutes given for group/family photos followed after

25 minutes for alone pictures around the area

Reception entrance set for 6 30

Hi Genna! If 6:30 dinner is the time that's set in stone I'd work backwards from there!!

Next I'd decide how long you want your cocktail hour to be, then subtract the length of your ceremony and you'll get your ceremony start time!

You could do a 5pm ceremony with cocktail hour & photos starting at 5:30??

Are you doing a first look? If so, you don't need to have an extended cocktail hour since you can get your photos out of the way before the ceremony.

Your commissioner should only need to block off 45 minutes max for whenever your ceremony takes place.

With 14 people, you can be a bit more flexible with what to do with the group. Feel free to get up from the table to take photos in between courses.
