Nanny

Momofbride(Kim), on September 9, 2017 at 19:26 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5

My future son in law has 2 very young children from a previous relationship. Am I crazy to hire a nanny to watch them at the reception and take them back to the hotel to tuck them into bed so that my son in law to be can relax and enjoy the evening, as well as his parents and other family members?

Thank you all for your wonderful input. I have discussed it with them and they love the idea. We are going to source a nanny through a service so they are vetted, have first aid and are screened by the police with verifiable references and actually extend the offer to other families with small children so everyone can enjoy the day.

I think the parents of the children would want to know who the nanny is, first. They probably won't want to put them in the care of a stranger. Otherwise, I think it's a good idea. Small children get tired and cranky during long lasting events like weddings. They would most likely be much happier getting some one-on-one with a child minder.

I like that idea Smiley smile reading the comments, I guess it would be nice to discuss with them first... but I think it's nice and frees up all the other guests from being responsible for his kids.. IE, his parents or something. I like the idea myself and would do it, if you feel good about it

It's so nice of you to think of him! I would ask and see how he feels or if there's anyone he would prefer to watch the kids. I know I personally wouldn't want someone I don't know watching my kids over night.

I think that is a very nice gesture but I would ask your daughter and FSIL first if they are comfortable with that before just booking someone.
