Naked Cakes - So Sweet, or Would Not Eat?

We have just started researching wedding cakes and I love naked cakes that matches the rustic theme of our wedding! (Plus it's good for our budget too!!) Just that temperature would be a concern that the cake might not hold up as well compared to fondant ones, especially for our summer tent wedding. Let me know if I'm not the only one debating about this!

I love cake in general but don't like too much frosting, so this one I would eat a lot of.

Aesthetically it looks gorgeous but I prefer something a little sweeter.

Love them! My friend is a talented baker & is making a single tier one special for us. I think they’re gorgeous with the natural colour being highlighted. Plus, I loathe fondant so it’s perfect. Something like this (but in 1 tier):

Naked cakes love them. I don’t like the icing on cake so we are doing a simple naked cake.

Some naked cakes are more naked than others... for example, the one in this photo still looks like it's got a decent amount of icing on it... I hate super sugary icing, so less is more for me, but I also don't want dry cake....

I too think that naked cakes look unfinished. Although if my cake turns out horrible it's nice to know I can take the icing off and it's still acceptable!
