Naked Cakes: In or Out?

Lynnie, on February 18, 2019 at 10:35 Posted in Wedding reception 0 29

Out for me, fondant looks way more elegant to me. Plus my FH loves icing and would probably be offended by a naked cake haha

I love naked cakes, I think they look pretty elegant actually. Plus, probably a lot cheaper!

In. The icing of mine will match my layers of organza dress.

It depends on the vibe of the wedding.

I would say they're still in, but waning.

I feel like as much as I want this trend to die, they’re still in.

As an icing person, I'm pretty biased! Smiley laugh

But I do think naked cakes look gorgeous in pictures!

I prefer icing or fondant on cakes so I’m going to say out. I’m just not a fan of the look.

Out- i personally like the icing taste. They are nice but I wouldn't eat it as a guest.

Out! I feel it gives the cake an incomplete look. Not my style.

In for me. I was seriously considering one but FH wants his icing - buttercream though, never fondant!

I hate them SO. MUCH. The best part of any cake is the icing, helloooooooooo.

I love the look and hate fondant. Ours will be naked with a rose gold drip on one side.

Out! It looks like someone forgot to finish the cake, or ran out of icing

Out just because I feel like the cake would get kinda dry! I love the look, it's a nice change to the crazy ridiculous cakes you often see.

Out! They look like somebody tried to ice a cake, then failed, and then scraped off the majority of icing and called it a day.

In. I think it depends on the couple. If they don't like icing, I don't see why not.

I personally don't like the look of them/prefer semi-naked cakes.

I'm not a fan! I love icing (buttercream over fondant though) too much to minimize it!
