Naked Cake - Overrated or Underrated?

Way overrated, I want the icing and the fondant 😍

Overrated.

I am a fan for frosting to begin with, but, unless you have a good baker who is doing the cake same day rather than the day before, you're running the risk of it drying out the cake. Also from a baking perspective (I do a lot of baking...lol), icing helps balance the more dry texture of even the moistest cake, so you have to get a really good person doing it to ensure the balance isn't off either.

I think they are ugly. I would rather only eat that much frosting but I'd rather pick it off myself so I have the right amount of frosting.

I love the look of a naked cake! I agree with Stephanie and Samantha they tend to get on the dry side without the icing.

Overrated - I am that frosting fanatic that would never skip on the sweet stuff - but it's gotta be buttercream!

Underrated. They are far less forgiving than an iced cake

Underrated, I loooove them! Most people I know aren't big fans of too much icing on a cake, and I think fondant is totally overrated

Overrated. i think naked cakes just look unfinished.

I love naked cakes! But I'm not a big fan of icing, so there's usually just the right amount on naked cakes in my opinion, and they look more rustic if that's the look you're going for. The only downside to them is that because there's not a thick layer of icing, they dry out quickly

Underrated - I love the look of a naked cake when it is done right! Also since they are light on icing I can actually enjoy the cake.

Overrated? Idk man, I stand by what I've said before - it looks like they tried to ice a cake and failed so they wiped it off and called it a day.
