Music as guests arrive

Emma, on September 30, 2018 at 10:04 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 7
I’m having a hard time deciding on what type of music to play as guests arrive at the ceremony. We are having a DJ and getting married at a hotel not a church.

Right now all of our ceremony music has lyrics. I’m thinking of walking down to “At Last” but I’ve changed my mind several times so who knows lol.

I’m torn between having the DJ play some mellow instrumental music. Or having some more upbeat fun/cute songs. Think “Marry me” by Jason Derulo, “Marry you” by Bruno Mars, “Dear Future Husband”, “I Do”. Stuff like that.

What do you guys think?

I like instrumental at the beginning and upbeat as everyone leaves. It is your wedding though, so it’s fine to do upbeat songs at the beginning if that’s what you really want! I had just done a google search for instrumental songs, listened to a few and chose from there. I’m sure your DJ would know some good ones!

I like the idea of instrumental, just because the majority of guests will be talking among one another before the ceremony starts.

You said your ceremony music is all lyrics too, so having instrumental and then maybe a upbeat/cute song or two right before will cue your guests that you are starting soon and to settle in.

I had the DJ play whatsever music was appropiate based on the occasion. You can do the same or have a list for them to play at your request.

I love the idea of having cute upbeat songs focused on getting married! It's adorable and will really get everyone in the mood Smiley smile

I think some non-lyrical music would be best. People are talking A LOT when they see each other... remember, it's kind of like a family reunion where a lot of people won't have seen each other in a while.

Your DJ probably has a pretty good idea of what to play... if they are usually an event/wedding DJ... so I'd give them a little guidance, but ultimately, they know the drill. My guy just told me my package would include some soft tunes as guests entered.

I like the idea of having instrumental music playing in the background. It’ll allow for guests to mingle and find their seat without being a distraction!

I’m currently obsessed with the “Jazz Vibes” and “Mellow Beats” playlists on Spotify, if you're looking for inspiration! We have it playing around the house when the TV isn't on!
